Jockey Tom Scudamore was seen at his very best when partnering Shaking Hands to victory in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter on Saturday.
Punters who were on the 14/1 winner could have been tempted to tear up their betting slips when the five-year-old nearly fell at the fourth last fence, forcing Scudamore to make a brilliant recovery to remain in the saddle.
However, defeat was turned into victory when leader Pelo Du Bief fell two fences later and Scudamore galvanised his mount back into the lead, bravely holding off the challenge of Brimham Boy on the run-in.
Despite taking a heavy tumble, Pelo Du Bief was nonetheworse for the fall although his rider Joseph Cornwall sustained a broken wrist.
