The first juvenile contest of the Irish turf season and any runner that is sent from Jim Bolger's Coolcullen based has to be respected given the trainer's record in this event. Verbitude is a half-brother to Dubai Sand, who won a Listed race as a juvenile last October, and his dam is a half-sister to the top-class Teofilo. That said, the preference is for ROYAL DIPLOMAT, whose price tag rose from 27,000 euros as a foal to 78,000 euros a year later. The son of Zebedee is out of a half-sister to the former Windsor Castle winner Drawnfromthepast and there are plenty of useful juveniles in the family. Way Back Home is a half-brother to Majeste, who was fourth in a Group Two as a juvenile last season. My Silver Nails' sire was the first past the post in this race back in 2011 and she is worth a look in the market today.

The market should be revealing and confidence behind either MOONLIGHT BAY or Verbitude would look particularly significant, given that they both make plenty of appeal on paper and hail from leading yards which are more than capable of readying a newcomer. Preference is for the former, who is bred to relish plenty of cut in the ground. Royal Diplomat and Way Back Home are others to consider.
