CASTELLATED looks the pick of Richard Hannon's pair of contenders here and won well over the distance at Bath on his last start as a two-year-old. He was only a length and a half away from the well-regarded filly Coronet, a leading Oaks fancy, on debut at Leicester and must be high up on the shortlist here. John Gosden has started the season in fine form and his Eldritch beat a useful sort of Roger Varian's on debut at Haydock last season, his only start, and is another who enters the equation here. Others to note are Bush House, Nick Vedder and Vanity Queen.
The vote goes to MASTER ARCHER, one of several unexposed types representing strong yards in this contest. He caught the eye on his reappearance in what looked a decent Windsor maiden and makes his handicap debut off a potentially handy mark. Bush House, who gave a good account of himself over C&D last time, and Eldritch, winner of his sole 2-y-o start, are live dangers.
