An undulating, right-handed, rectangular track of under nine furlongs in extent. Although the two-furlong home straight is slightly uphill this is very much a sharp track with tight turns which favours the speedy, handy type, particularly the hurdles course which is on the inside of the chase one. There are six fences to a circuit of the chase course with only one in the finishing straight.
They only recently changed from right-handed to left-handed and while I haven’t rode around it since the change, I can see why the feedback has been good on it. They have an uphill finish now and in general it just seems a kinder track. You can get all sorts of ground there on the same day and I’d say it’s a very hard track to water, as there are a lot of undulations that would make it difficult to keep the ground uniform. The fences there were always fair.
