Chester

Racing at Chester is always spectacular. It is a left-handed round course of just a few yards over a mile and is therefore the tightest racecourse in Britain. Needless to say, a low draw is a considerable advantage — with a low draw and a speedy start the benefit is immense.
All meetings are very well attended but when there is a full house (the 3 day Chester May Meeting) the atmosphere is like a packed Roman Amphitheatre. Barry Hills has an outstanding record at the track and all his horses should be closely scrutinized. Darryll Holland is a supreme judge of pace and he clearly enjoys riding Chester from the front. Horses that can handle the bends here often are seen to good effect at Epsom — the Chester Vase is a recognized Derby trial.

Directions

By road
Chester Racecourse is located a mile to the south-west of the city on A548 Queensferry road Junction of M56. The track is well signposted from the outskirts and centre of Chester.
By rail
Chester is served by trains from London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Holyhead and a bus runs from the station to the racecourse.
