John Gosden continued his fine run of form as he unleashed two Investec Oaks candidates in the shape of Shutter Speed and Gracious Diana on an informative card at Newbury.

Shutter Speed impressed as she lived up to her tall reputation to win the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes.

Settled in fourth by Frankie Dettori, the once-raced filly showed a very smart turn of foot, quickening up past Raheen House in the style of a promising horse.

Raheen House is no mug having finished fourth in the Racing Post Trophy last season, but he was two and a half lengths down on the 5-4 favourite at the line.

Gosden, who also saddled the third Enable, said: "The idea of running them here was to get another race into them in the hope that they might be good enough to run in an Oaks trial.

"These fillies had only raced once in their lives and are both rated 84, they need the experience and that is why I brought them here.

"I thought the third ran a good race and will probably go to the Cheshire Oaks and we'll have to decide where the other one goes. There are all the obvious races, like York (Musidora).

"The ground was very soft when Shutter Speed ran at Yarmouth and she definitely loved the better ground today."

Dettori said: "She's a lovely filly, she's strengthened up, she's a classy filly. I think we'll go the staying route and an Oaks trial rather than the Guineas."

Shutter Speed was cut to 6-1 from 12s for Epsom by Paddy Power, but th ere was to be no birthday winner for the Queen, with her Maths Prize fading out of contention.

Gracious Diana looked another filly with a bright future when streaking clear to win the Bathwick Tyres Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Pre-race, the talk was of Mori, the offsping of Frankel and Midday making her debut for Sir Michael Stoute, but after shaping nicely, she could only stay on one-paced into fifth.

However, the 4-1 winner, only 10th of 17 on her sole start last season, looked in a different league and she shot clear under Dettori to beat Star Rock by three and a half lengths.

Bet Victor gave her a 20-1 quote for the Oaks.

Gosden said: "She's a lovely filly and will probably come back here for the (Oaks) trial, that is the plan at the moment.

"She had been training well through the spring. Her only run was when she finished 10th at Nottingham last year but she did well enough over the spring to put her in the Oaks.

"We don't normally do that for one that had finished 10th in a maiden on their first start.

"She's a big girl and is filling into her frame and she looks rather like her grandfather, Generous."

Dettori said: "She surprised me, she won really well. She wouldn't have shown the sort of speed Shutter Speed did, but she won really well."
