Best Solution claimed a first Group One success as he lifted the 128th Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten on Sunday.
Saeed bin Suroor’s charge was partnered by Pat Cosgrave in the 12-furlong event, and he still appeared to have plenty to do turning for home.
However, Best Solution kept finding for pressure and eventually edged in front, coming home a neck ahead of Sound Check.
Royal Youmzain was third while last year’s winner Dschingis Secret could finish only fourth.
Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com: “Best Solution was a bit slowly away, but Pat looked after him all the way in the race.
“Entering the final furlong, the horse really quickened up well when Pat asked him to and he has won well in the end.
“Best Solution deserved to win a Group One race. He beat some good horses when he won the Group Two Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket last time and had been in good form at home following that success.
“An option for him now could be to go to Australia for the Caulfield Cup (October 12) and the Melbourne Cup (November 6). We will talk to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and he will make the decision.
“We have now won two Group One races in Germany in two weeks (Benbatl landed the Grosser Dallmayr Preis on July 29) and that is a good result for us.”
