Bay gelding; Smart Strike - Beyond Our Reach (Danehill Dancer)
Banish is a bay gelding by Smart Strike, twice Champion sire in North America, out of the Group 1-placed mare Beyond Our Reach and is in training at Newmarket with Hugo Palmer.
Canadian-bred and a top-class horse on the dirt at a mile in the US, Smart Strike had the ability to produce champions on both Dirt and Turf and his progeny included 112 stakes winners, most notably Curlin, Lookin At Lucky, English Channel and My Miss Aurelia - who won 19 Grade 1s between them.
On his dam side this colt has plenty of quality which traces back to the great El Prado, who was a champion two-year-old. Furthermore, Beyond Our Reach herself showed very smart form in a short career, finishing third in the 2008 Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Banish was purchased on behalf of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing by John Warren at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up sale in Newmarket in April 2015. Described as a "strong individual with a superb action, he has natural muscle, which will hold him in good stead."
Hugo Palmer has quickly risen up the training ranks to become one of Britain's most successful and exciting young trainers. He learned his trade from Lord Huntington, Hughie Morrison and Gai Waterhouse, as well as foaling mares at Cheveley Park Stud and consigning yearlings at Highclere Stud.
