Found some improvement to gain a share of the spoils with a thriving rival at Newmarket (1m) last month, keeping on well. Has the plum draw in stall 1 to work from and another big run expected.

Much improved from debut effort when 7 lengths fourth of 13 at Leicester (1m) in June, albeit granted the run of the race, and he's not built on that subsequently. Blinkers fitted for handicap debut.

Verdict

MEARING kept on well in the closing stages when picking up some minor money over the extended 1m1f at Carlisle and could feasibly step up on that effort, off an unchanged mark, now granted this stiffer test. Bacacarat dead-heated for victory over 1m at Newmarket but was putting in his best work in the finish and could improve again now upped in distance. Dance Legend, making her handicap bow, looks best of the rest.

Verdict

BACACARAT found some improvement when dead-heating over 1m at Newmarket last month, and with the longer trip/underfoot conditions expected to hold no fears, there appears no reason why he won't go well again. Dance Legend remains with a good deal of potential and is feared, ahead of the thriving Mearing.
