Did the job well when making a winning debut under James Doyle at Newbury (7f, good) where he had a couple of subsequent winners behind. More on his plate here, but he's likely to progress.

Shaped with plenty of promise on York debut and looked a useful prospect when scoring at Haydock (6f, good to firm) subsequently. Remains open to improvement.

Decisive winner of a Newmarket nursery last month and not disgraced when upped in class in the Acomb at York (7f, good to firm). Still, may prove vulnerable up against some promising types here.

Verdict

SANGARIUS created a big impression when making up a fair amount of ground to make a winning debut at Newmarket last month. The son of Kingman was ridden with plenty of confidence by James Doyle on that occasion and warrants the step up to Listed company where he will bid to cement a prominent position in the betting for the 2,000 Guineas next year. Athmad caused a surprise when winning easily on debut at Newbury, but that form has worked out well with both the second and fourth to win novice events subsequently and he can take a step forward from that effort. Dubai Dominion was placed in Listed company at Salisbury when last seen and completes the shortlist with Commanding Officer, winner of the Convivial at York.

Verdict

SANGARIUS is potentially a cut-above these judged on the abundant promise of his debut success at Newmarket. The form of the Newbury maiden Athmad landed last month looks decent and he gets the nod ahead of Dubai Dominion and Jonah Jones for forecast purposes.
