Verdict

JAN SMUTS regained the winning thread when staying on best for a half-length success at the main expense of Medicine Hat over the extended 2m trip here last week and connections have found their charge another winnable opening. A 6lb penalty makes life tougher, as does the drop in distance, but if ridden positively he could gallop these rivals into submission. Genres performed well over 10 furlongs here latest and is a big player, while chances are also given to Temasek Star and Surround Sound.

Verdict

GENRES took a step back in the right direction when a keeping-on fourth over 10f here recently and could be ready to strike under Simon Walker. Irish raider Temasek Star has a good record on the polytrack at Dundalk and will be a threat if proving as effective on tapeta. Mark Johnston's Sennockian Song and last week's course winner Jan Smuts also make the shortlist.
