Temperament isn't all it could be, but he's been reinvigorated by the return to forcing tactics, landing a brace of handicaps at up to 3m. Should stay this far, but 8 lb rise asks for more again.

Posted a couple of good efforts in competitive handicaps at Cheltenham towards the end of last season. Pleasing return from 8 months off at Plumpton recently and he may strip fitter for that.

Verdict

Rolling Maul has found a resurgence in form having won his last two outings at Worcester and Perth, but now has to contend with a hefty rise in the handicap. Timeforben won over C&D last month where she appeared to relish the step up in trip along with the addition of first-time blinkers, and a 7lb rise seems fair for that effort. Clondaw Cian lost his way over fences last season, but has gone well fresh over timber in the past and is 2lb higher than his last winning mark. The vote, however, goes to VODKA ALL THE WAY, who ended last season with a win at Exeter in a novice hurdle and he looks to have the potential for further improvement in handicaps.

Verdict

TIMEFORBEN improved again when recording win number 3 over this C&D last month, and a 7 lb rise ought not to prevent a very bold follow-up bid. Rolling Maul is also at the top of his game and is dangerous if allowed to dictate matters, while Clondaw Cian lurks on a temping mark returned to timber back from a break.
