Right back in form when third in the Melrose and shaped well for a long way in the St Leger last time, so no surprise if there's even more to come from him, particularly next year.

Was improving earlier in the year, off the mark at Salisbury, but a marked step up in a listed race could have been flattering and failed to back it up when last seen in handicap at Royal Ascot.

Holding form well and deserved extra credit having been posted wide racing freely at Ascot last time, hard one to discount in a race that should play to his strengths.

Is firmly on the up recently, not much to spare at Newcastle last month but pulling well clear with another well treated sort. Another step up required if he's to complete the hat-trick.

Verdict

SURYA is a colt on a steep upward curve, impressing with three victories since late June. A further 5lb rise will obviously make life tougher, but he remains open to greater improvement and is fancied to extend his winning sequence. Canford Heights has won his last couple of starts by an aggregate of just over 12 lengths and an 8lb hike for dotting up on his handicap debut at Haydock seems fair. He should go close, while Almoghared and the Melrose third Proschema are others to note.

Verdict

SURYA has looked streets ahead of the handicapper of late, again having plenty to spare after powering through the race at Haydock last time, so there's no obvious reason to oppose him here. Hat-trick seekers Canford Heights and Astromachia look the main dangers.
