Wide-margin point winner who showed useful form in 4 outings over hurdles last term, culminating with a sixth in Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Good chase prospect.

Verdict

ROBIN WATERS showed considerable promise over hurdles last season from his debut effort for Dan Skelton when third in a strong contest at Newbury behind Santini. He followed that up with a third at Ascot to Clondaw Native before an easy success at Wetherby in February, which set him up for a crack at the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. He shaped really well in that contest until getting tired and weakening into fifth behind Kilbricken Storm. He remains open to significant improvement now going chasing and can open his account over fences at the expense of Minella Awards, who was disappointing at Chepstow when a well-beaten third by Drinks Interval.

Verdict

A match but it does feature a pair who could make their presence felt in some good novice chases this term. Narrow preference is for ROBIN WATERS, who was an excellent sixth in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen and a wide-margin point success at the start of his career suggests he'll prove just as good over fences.

Showed plenty of ability in going so close first time out in a Fakenham bumper in April and likely to have a future over jumps for promising young trainer.

Verdict

REDZOR got off the mark at the third time of asking in the point-to-point sphere at Ballyragget in Ireland and was subsequently sold for 80,000 pounds at the Cheltenham April sale. His dam is a half-sister to 2003 RSA Chase winner One Knight and he represents the same trainer/jockey combination who took this prize 12 months ago with Hear No Evil (runs in the 1.35). Quoi De Neuf cost 180,000 euros at the Goffs Punchestown sale having won his sole point outing at Ballysteen and is a half-brother to Cheltenham Festival winner Qualando, while One For The Team comes from a lovely National Hunt family, related to 2016 Grand National winner Rule The World, and is likely to improve from his bumper win at Wincanton.

Verdict

CAPTAIN DRAKE displayed a good attitude to land an 11-runner bumper at Towcester under gruelling conditions in March and, with plenty to recommend him now hurdling, all looks set fair for a big run. Redzor and One For The Team are just 2 potential threats though, in an intriguing affair.

Smart chaser in Ireland for Ellmarie Holden in 2016/17. Well beaten off lower hurdle mark when last seen in August 2017 but very interesting having switched to Dr Richard Newland.

Verdict

HEAR NO EVIL won on hurdling debut here over 2m4f at this meeting 12 months ago before having a light campaign. He ended his season in January when beating EBF Final hero Sam's Gunner at Catterick and an opening mark of 135 looks more than exploitable for this upcoming season. The Organist looks the pick of the JP McManus quartet with good ground to suit her chances, while Abolitionist looks an interesting newcomer for Dr Richard Newland with his season likely to be built around a crack at the Grand National back here in April.

Verdict

ABOLITIONIST hasn't been seen for over a year but he was a smart chaser at his best in Ireland and looks well worth chancing off his lower hurdle mark on his first outing for a stable which does well with new recruits. Hear No Evil appeals as the sort to go on to better things in handicaps this term, while The Organist is also respected under Barry Geraghty.

Better known for his chasing exploits, landing his second Ultima Handicap Chase in a row at Cheltenham when last seen 20 months ago. Every chance this is just a pipe-opener, though.

Verdict

Unowhatimeanharry won this prize last year but was unable to get his head back in front for the remainder of the campaign. His stable did have a patchy season, however, and a wind operation along with a summer break could see him return to form. Vision Des Flos returns to hurdles after unseating his rider on chase debut at Ffos Las last month and is an interesting contender having shaped here in April behind Lalor as though this distance would see him to best effect. Agrapart got the better of WHOLESTONE when the pair met in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham over 3m in January, but there is an argument to be made that the latter is better over intermediate trips. Despite the fact he finished third to Penhill in the Stayers Hurdle in March, that was a slowly-run affair which aided the speedier types and his best performance last season came when beating Agrapart in the Relkeel Hurdle over an extended 2m4f on New Year's Day.

Verdict

Although WHOLESTONE was campaigned mainly on testing ground last year, he's displayed his effectiveness on a sound surface in the past, including round here, so he's worth backing to make a winning return at the expense of last year's winner Unowhatimeanharry, with Agrapart another classy sort to consider for all he'd prefer it softer.

Verdict

Hell's Kitchen has threatened to prove much better than his handicap mark for a while and his attacking nature around this speed track could just see him to best effect. That said, this is his first start for 279 days and he could prove too fresh, which would make him vulnerable late on. King's Odyssey had a consistent year, finishing third on all four outings, and remains on the same mark after his effort behind The Storyteller at the Cheltenham Festival. Romain De Senam, Warriors Tale, and War Sound all warrant respect, but the vote goes to SOME INVITATION. The son of Presenting comes with plenty of risks attached, as he was last seen disappointing in a competitive handicap at Uttoxeter in May, but he has always gone well fresh and looks fairly handicapped to strike. He is 5lb lower than his effort in a Cheltenham handicap over 3m2f in April when he just didn't get home after travelling strongly for most of the contest.

Verdict

HELL'S KITCHEN hasn't been seen since a poor effort at Leopardstown (possibly amiss) in February but was impressive when making all at Kempton (strong form) on Boxing Day and remains unexposed. Martiloo has taken her form to a new level this season and is another to consider returned to a more suitable trip, while Romain de Senam shaped well on comeback and has dipped below his last winning mark.

Improved markedly for the switch to chasing last winter, scoring twice at 2m. Should be sharper for his recent return and not discounted.

Verdict

BABY KING ended last season by getting the better of Mixboy at Perth in April and is only 1lb higher for that success. He won this prize 12 months ago off a 4lb lower mark and has always shown good form when returning from an absence. Positively Dylan won a handicap at Wetherby in January before falling in a Grade 2 at Haydock behind Testify and proving no match for Rather Be at Fakenham. He returns to handicap company off a 6lb higher mark and warrants respect, while Luckofthedraw's jumping improved throughout his chase debut at Carlisle and he can be competitive despite a 7lb rise.

Verdict

LUCKOFTHEDRAW made a fine start to his chase career at Carlisle last month and a 7 lb rise may not prevent him from following up with improvement on the cards. Yorkist returns on a good mark after a lengthy absence and merits consideration, along with Robbing The Prey, who remains unexposed starting out for a new yard.

Stowaway filly. Half-sister to useful bumper winner/useful hurdler Air Horse One and bumper winner One For Rosie. Dam unraced. One for shortlist on debut given connections.

Verdict

MISTY WHISKY looks an interesting proposition with her half-brothers Air Horse One and One For Rosie both winners on their respective debuts in bumpers, and she can take full advantage of her mare's allowance. Blazer's Mill was runner-up to Birchdale, who is in the care of Nicky Henderson, in a point-to-point at Tyrella in March and cost 160,000 pounds at the Goffs April sale here, while Raven Court must be considered with his owner, Trevor Hemmings, having a fine record at the course in recent years.

Verdict

This will probably go to a newcomer, with BLAZER'S MILL chanced before the benefit of market clues. Sojourn shaped really well on his debut at Newbury, though that was a year ago and he hasn't been seen since. Misty Whisky is a half-sister to a couple who won bumpers on their debut so she has to be considered also.
