Dual winner over extended 2m who hasn't been shaping too badly from a sliding mark of late, seemingly finding 21f taxing his stamina at Ludlow latest. Worth bearing in mind.

Verdict

ATOMIC RUMBLE took a fair step forward on his novice hurdle form when winning on his handicap debut at Ffos Las, and the drop back down a couple of furlongs looks a positive move considering he raced keenly on that occasion. Primogeniture is capable of improvement now tackling handicap company, while Final Choice will find life easier here than he did on Grand National day when down the field behind Havana Beat.

Verdict

This looks wide open so a chance is taken on handicap-debutant PRIMOGENITURE. A fairly useful Flat winner, his third in novice company at Warwick recently was a marked step forward from his hurdles bow and his opening mark looks workable. Ffos Las winner Atomic Rumble, Craggaknock and Mr Snoozy are just 3 possible threats, however.

Little impact in 3 outings on the Flat but ahead of a couple of these when runner-up in the first juvenile of the season at Hexham a fortnight ago, Sets a reasonable standard.

Verdict

Weinberg (second), Enforcement (third) and Jaycols Star (fourth) all contested the first juvenile hurdle of the season at Hexham where Donald McCain's gelding came out on top. He is entitled to build on that performance and confirm his superiority, but the vote goes to CRACKER FACTORY. Alan King does very well with his juveniles and there is no doubt he will have been well schooled in the lead-up to this.

Verdict

CRACKER FACTORY represents a yard with an excellent record in this division, so it wouldn't come as a surprise were he to immediately leave his Flat form behind. Weinberg should uphold Hexham form with Enforcement and Jaycols Star but that wasn't a strong race, while it will be interesting to see what Chief Justice can do without starting stalls.

Relished the extra distance back over fences when off the mark at Newton Abbot and followed up with a narrow win at Uttoxeter. Remains unexposed and sure to make another bold bid.

Verdict

GOOD MAN VINNIE has been one to follow in recent weeks and can claim a hat-trick for Paul Henderson. Suited by drying ground, the seven-year-old is going the right way and can defy a further 8lb rise. Course winners Silver Man and Petrou deserve respect, the latter in particular for the in-form Dan Skelton. Ballyboker Breeze was a solid second on his reappearance at Southwell and is expected to build on that.

Verdict

GOOD MAN VINNIE had more in hand than the bare margin suggests at Uttoxeter last time and is sure to make a bold bid for the hat-trick after just 5 career starts over fences. Ballyboker Breeze shaped well after a lay-off at Southwell, while Petrou should be on the premises again.

Away from the mud and returned to his best when winning 9-runner handicap at Newton Abbot last month, digging deep. Should remain competitive up 3 lb.

Verdict

Cause Toujours looked much better when making a winning debut for Ian Williams after appearing in danger of becoming disappointing for his former yard, but this is a tougher race and he could prove vulnerable against MELODY OF SCOTLAND. Making his first start for Alan King, it is worth noting that Barry Geraghty comes over for the ride, and this well-related French import will be fancied to make a successful UK bow. Mick Thonic can chase them home for third.

Verdict

CAUSE TOUJOURS landed the odds with the minimum of fuss on last month's debut for Ian Williams, and considering he was sent off favourite for last year's Champion Bumper, there has to be a chance that this opening mark grossly underestimates him. Melody of Scotland represents powerful connections and is feared most, ahead of Parthenius, a former stablemate of the selection.

Struggling for form generally, but perhaps working way back to full fitness the last twice and landed this race from a higher mark last year, so certainly worth considering for an in-form yard.

Lurks on a very dangerous mark nowadays but it's been a while since he showed any real spark and others have less to prove.

Verdict

Indian Temple was in fine form when a runaway winner at Perth and has to be respected under a 7lb penalty. However, he has to concede plenty of weight, which gives FREE STONE HILL a chance to register a first chase victory having knocked on the door on his two most recent outings, and he remains on a mark lower than his best rating over hurdles. Pearls Legend is a consistent performer to note, with Champagne At Tara also considered following his Towcester third and with Barry Geraghty in the plate.

Verdict

THEFLYINGPORTRAIT won this from a higher mark last year and, following a couple of pipe-openers recently, he looks all set to put up another bold showing provided he doesn't get involved in a potential tussle for the lead. Pearls Legend and Indian Temple arrive on the back of career-best efforts and also warrant consideration.

Bumper winner who hasn't improved since switched to handicaps but she did prove her stamina for 3m when third at Perth in cheekpieces (retained) last month.

Verdict

The Skelton team are in flying form and their Worcester winner SAUVIGNON can follow up from a 7lb higher mark, having thrived up in trip last time. The hat-trick seeking Final Reminder has been in red-hot form since returning for a summer campaign and has to be respected, while Skewiff was only beaten a length by a useful rival at Ffos Las and is another for the shortlist.

Verdict

FINAL REMINDER is very much going the right way and can make light of a further 9 lb rise and complete a hat-trick. Sauvignon returned from a break with an improved effort to win at Worcester last month and is likely to figure again, while Drinks Interval perhaps found a third run in quick succession too much last time and can bounce back after a short break.

Fair maiden on the Flat. Modest form at best on complete start over hurdles and looks up against it.

Verdict

Former high-class Flat stayer HIGH JINX routed the opposition on his switch to hurdles at Kelso and should have more to come. The popular veteran was far from the finished article over the obstacles, but should have too much class for his rivals once again. Vivant is the main danger following her 16-length rout at Worcester. Jumping newcomer Ballyfarsoon and Clayton Hall are given a watching brief on this occasion.

Verdict

HIGH JINX evidently still retains a useful level of ability based on his ready hurdle debut success and is preferred to recent Worcester scorer Vivant in what will surely develop into a match between the pair.
