Verdict

Altaira held on well over 1m2f here last time and a 6lb rise is offset somewhat by Poppy Bridgewater's 3lb claim, but he might just find DOCTOR JAZZ too strong in this. Richard Hannon's charge was a good winner at Windsor last month and though things haven't gone well since, he is just 4lb higher than that victory now. Highlife Flyer ran well on his penultimate start before finding 2m too far latest and he could be happier dropping back in trip.

Verdict

JAQUAR appeals as the type to do better now switching to handicaps fitted with first time blinkers and a tongue tie so he receives the vote. Doctor Jazz would be a big threat if bouncing back to the form of his Windsor victory in August.

Hooded for 1st time, tenth of 14 in nursery at Ffos Las (5f, good to soft, 33/1) 3 days ago. Doesn't look one to be interested in.

Verdict

London Rock has got closer with each outing so far, finishing just over a length behind the winner at Ffos Las last time, while On The Stage has been keeping much better company than this of late and the Super Sprint fourth should not be underestimated. Preference is for TINTO, though, as he followed up a Brighton success with a solid third off 1lb higher at Sandown and he looks all set to go well again.

Verdict

LONDON ROCK is improving all the time and it sure to be winning races sooner rather than later. Tinto should give another good account, while On The Stage would be a threat now handicapping if returning to the form of her 4th in the Super Sprint at Newbury in July.

Verdict

RED ALERT pulled nicely clear of the rest when successful over track and trip last time and the fact that everything didn't go his way that day suggests he could be good value for a 5lb rise. Perfect Symphony chased the selection home on that occasion and has a squeak with his handicap mark unmoved, but a bigger danger could be Essaka, who won with some authority on his latest visit to this track.

Verdict

RED ALERT caused interference to both Perfect Symphony and Jaganory in a C&D handicap 11 days ago, but in truth he was well on top come the line and is capable of going in again. He may have most to fear from Dandilion given she's back on her last winning mark.

Verdict

Recent Epsom second Becca Campbell has the ability to go close but has to prove she stays this far, unlike C&D winner High Wells and Cry Wolf, who has won over this trip and further at Chelmsford of late. Volpone Jelois has gone backwards since winning at Chepstow in May so perhaps recent course second XINBAMA can land the spoils for Irish handler David Dunne.

Verdict

HOPE IS HIGH lost her way slightly over the summer, but a break and the re-application of headgear may just sharpen her up and she's certainly well weighted if that proves to be the case. Xinbama found only one too good here last time and is a big threat, along with High Wells.

Verdict

BAWAASIL might be one of the more exposed horses in this line-up, but Owen Burrows' colt has been heading in the right direction and can build on placed efforts at both Newmarket at Doncaster. Cogital hasn't really produced anything as impressive as his debut third at Newmarket but perhaps a first-time hood may help. Brockagh Cailin could be the pick of the newcomers.

Verdict

A potential match between COGITAL and Bawaasil, who both look fairly useful. The former is proven over the trip so shades the vote.

Latest win at Chepstow in May. 9/2, good second of 11 in handicap at this C&D (firm) 11 days ago, nearest finish.

Verdict

MISTER MUSICMASTER has been running consistently well in recent months and his most recent defeats at Salisbury suggest that he can be successful off his current mark. Delirium was only denied by a neck over C&D earlier in the month and she could give the selection plenty to think about today off the same mark, while War Of Succession and Windsorlot are others to note.

Verdict

DELIRIUM only just failed over this C&D 11 days ago and has obvious claims off the same mark. Four-time course-winner Mister Musicmaster is next best.

Verdict

MYSTIC MEG was not disgraced in a decent event at Windsor last time out and she could play a leading role in this contest, especially with the benefit of her riders' valuable 3lb claim. Straight Ash got his head back in front latest and he is an obvious threat to the selection, while My Boy Sepoy and Vanity Vanity are others to consider.

Verdict

STRAIGHT ASH brings recent winning form to the table, which may well count for plenty here, and he can defy a 2 lb higher mark on the back of his Musselburgh victory 18 days ago. Mystic Meg and My Boy Sepoy are a couple of others to consider in a tricky finale.
