Fell late when set to post his best effort over hurdles in France just over a year ago. Left G. Cherel €7,500 in July and market should guide on return for new yard.

Verdict

The Grade 2 Aintree bumper has been churning out the winners since April and HIGHLAND HUNTER can add his name to that list on his debut over the sticks for Lucinda Russell. The five-year-old is from a smart staying family and can land this before going up in trip and moving onto better things. Clondaw Anchor makes his second start for Dan Skelton and ran well on his hurdles debut at Warwick in May behind a smart sort, while En Meme Temps has a couple of runs to his name this season and shouldn't be far away.

Verdict

This looks an excellent opportunity for CLONDAW ANCHOR, who showed plenty when runner-up on hurdling debut at Warwick in May. Bumper-winner Highland Hunter is a decent jumping prospect and can pose the main threat.

Stretched unbeaten record to 4 when comfortably landing a listed novice hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, soft) on latest start in February. Exciting addition to the novice chase ranks.

Verdict

Euxton Lane looks a horse to follow this season and was progressive before finding the Grade 1 Mersey at Aintree too hot to handle. He finished behind some smart types on that day, but looks sure to be a better chaser and will likely push the unbeaten VINNDICATION all the way here. The Sidney Banks winner was put away after that contest with the bigger obstacles in mind and can continue on the upwards curve here for Kim Bailey, despite the hot nature of this event. Course winner Uncle Alastair needs a market check following a summer wind operation, while Red Rising is also considered carrying the same colours.

Verdict

Several of these were at least useful over hurdles and should make their mark in this sphere. VINNDICATION is the pick of them judged on his decisive victory at Huntingdon in February and, if taking to this game, he may well develop into a candidate for the big festivals during the spring. Red Rising is a real chasing type and is next on the list ahead of Euxton Lane and Uncle Alastair.

Performed with credit when third off 4 lb higher mark at Huntingdon in March, but pulled up both starts since and plenty to prove now. Tongue strap applied.

Verdict

Keep The River stayed on well to win Ayr last time but this drop in distance can't be taken as a positive given that she did all of her best work late there, while Versifier had enough attempts before getting off the mark at Hereford last month and a 9lb rise looks harsh enough for that. Toboggan's Fire looks open to improvement and Llantara likely needs more rain to score, but Irish raider VICTORIA SAYS has some strong maiden form to her name and it might be a good time to catch the six-year-old following a layoff in what looks to be a winnable affair.

Verdict

TROOBLUE is worth chancing in this open-looking affair. A line can be drawn through her reappearance effort and, eased 7 lb since, she appeals as potentially the best handicapped of these. Keep The River remains open to improvement, but whether this drop back in trip is what she wants remains to be seen. Consequently, bigger threats may be posed by Russian Royale and Hidden Dilemma.

Verdict

DOLOS wasn't beaten far up in trip last time and the return to two miles should suit Paul Nicholls' five-year-old, who has placed at Listed level over fences last season and his chasing experience could come to the fore here. One For Billy looked like landing a competitive Cheltenham contest last time before running out on the run in and he has to be respected for a team continuing to fire in the winners, while Chesterfield and Highway One O One have both made respectable starts to their fencing careers and are capable of getting involved.

Verdict

Paul Nicholls was in flying form over the weekend and there's a good chance DOLOS, who was an encouraging second on his reappearance last month, can provide him with another winner. Chesterfield is open to progress on the back of his Uttoxeter chase debut second and may provide the main threat ahead of One For Billy and last year's winner Nuts Well.

Verdict

Rebecca Menzies holds a strong hand with Tomkevi and RETURN FLIGHT, who gets the nod here having been set to play a prominent role in the finish off this mark at Stratford when coming to grief two from home and he should be able to make amends now with a clear round. Instant Replay's recent reappearance can be forgiven and he makes much more appeal back over fences having scored twice over the larger obstacles in the spring, while Instingtive and Calivigny have to be noted, with the latter making his first outing since a wind operation.

Verdict

INSTANT REPLAY was progressive over fences last season and better is expected now after his pipe-opener over hurdles. Return Flight hinted at a revival last time while Calivigny should be thereabouts again.

Runner-up in an Irish point on debut in June. Satisfactory enough start under Rules when sixth of 16 over C&D last month but she will need to step up on that form to go close.

Verdict

Jedd O'Keeffe's MR SCRUMPY created a taking impression when a 10-length winner at Hexham last month and his experience under Rules could be a vital asset here as he looks to follow up under a penalty. Point winner Weakfield is interesting on his Rules debut having joined Brian Ellison for 90,000 pounds, while Oliver Sherwood's Kayf Tara gelding Tarada and Olly Murphy's I K Brunel, in the colours of the McNeill family, are newcomers well worth a market check.

Verdict

MR SCRUMPY was impressive at Hexham last month and is the percentage call, although strong market support for expensive Irish point recruit Weakfield and/or Olly Murphy's I K Brunel would put a slightly different slant on things.
