Verdict

HANAKOTOBA was brave at the finish when scoring at Kempton last month and a 3lb rise may underestimate her potential dropping back in trip here. Yarmouth winner Shining Armor must rate as the main danger but could find this distance a little on the sharp side, while Kingi Compton showed promise over course and distance last time and has had his rating left alone by the assessor.

Verdict

HANAKOTOBA and Shining Armor stand out as last-time-out winners and both should have more to offer, with the former narrowly preferred given her win came on this surface. Of the rest, Robeam could be interesting on first start since being gelded.

Foaled April 8. Teofilo filly. Half-sister to useful winner up to 7.4f Bow And Arrow. Dam, French 1¼m winner, sister to smart 2-y-o 6.5f/7f winner Naaqoos. Trainer's newcomers command respect.

Verdict

Godolphin hold a strong hand in this and Charlie Appleby's TRUE BELIEF may be best of the duo stepping up in trip on the back of a gelding operation. Saeed Bin Suroor's debutant Dubai Luxury is the other runner in the royal blue silks and her half-sister was an all-weather winner at two which inspires optimism, while Al Messila was a 125,000gns Book One purchase and is another newcomer to note.

Verdict

TRUE BELIEF seemed totally ill at ease on the track when last of 7 at Epsom in June, yet had previously shaped with plenty of promise at York in May and, having been gelded subsequently, he is well worth another chance to get back on the up. Fellow Godolphin representative Dubai Luxury and Al Messila can also figure.

Once-raced maiden. Third of 8 in minor event at this course (8f, 12/1) on debut 16 days ago, never nearer. Up in trip. May well do better.

Verdict

MASSAM was twice a winner over a mile in September and was deemed good enough to contest a Newmarket Group 3 last time out. He should appreciated the easier company he encounters here and it would be no surprise if the step up to 10 furlongs brings about more improvement. Aspire Tower opened his account over 1m1f last time and could have more to come over this extra furlong, while Spanish Mission is capable of building on his course debut from last month.

Verdict

ASPIRE TOWER was strong in the betting and duly got back on the up to make it fifth time lucky at Newmarket 7 days ago. The step up to 1¼m promises to hold no fears on that evidence and he can follow up. Massam struggled in Group 3 company latest but will find this less demanding, whilst Spanish Mission remains with any amount of untapped potential moving forward.

Verdict

STREAM SONG ran well on her first attempt on the all-weather when fourth in a Listed contest at Lingfield behind Dramatic Queen and she can be competitive returning to handicap company on this surface. Elegiac has had a consistent season with his form seemingly getting stronger all the time. He really impressed two starts ago at York, where empathically beating Proschema by four lengths, while his stablemates Making Miracles and Lucky Deal look best of the remainder.

Verdict

LANDUE takes a sharp rise in class and must compete from 2 lb out of the handicap under a penalty, but he's absolutely thriving and was well on top at Kempton on Tuesday, so further success may well be forthcoming. Elegiac is perhaps the pick of the Mark Johnston trio, with Stream Song completing the shortlist.

Verdict

MONUMENTAL MAN has benefited from the switch to Jamie Osborne at the end of August when bought to go to Laytown, where he duly obliged. Since then he is yet to finish out of the first two and and can return to winning form this evening. Stable companion Acrux was disappointing when finishing last over 7f here 12 days ago but could benefit from dropping back in trip, while Wirral Girl completes the shortlist.

Verdict

MONUMENTAL MAN has a bit to find at the weights with the likes of Mujassam and Suzi's Connoisseur, but he's an uncomplicated and reliable operator, which counts for a lot at this level, so he's the percentage call.

Verdict

YOUNG JOHN has won with ease the last twice for Mike Murphy and looks poised to complete the hat-trick before the handicapper gets hold of him. Only 2lb higher here than for his Newcastle romp on Wednesday, the five-year-old is still fairly handicapped compared to the best of his 2016 form. Blessed To Empress is nicely drawn and saw this trip out well at Lingfield last time, while Showmethedough ran well when third at Windsor latest.

Verdict

The resurgent YOUNG JOHN won by a wide margin for the second start running at Newcastle on Wednesday and will be very hard to beat again off just 2 lb higher. The likes of Crystal Casque, Showmethedough and Blessed To Empress can battle it out for minor honours.

Improved on recent efforts to win 14-runner handicap at Newcastle (8f, 12/1) 1 day ago, helped by being held up in strongly-run race. Carries penalty and more needed to follow up.

Verdict

SQUIRE has been performing well of late and could find some improvement on stable debut for Marjorie Fife. The services of all-weather supremo Luke Morris is a big plus and the pair can account for Jabarout, who got off the mark in game fashion at Wolverhampton. Magojiro and Touch The Clouds are both solid benchmarks at this level and should be closing in the final stages.

Verdict

JABAROUT justified support to make a winning handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month and this lightly-raced 3-y-o can defy a 5 lb rise. Squire and Magojiro are feared most.
