Ultimately well held on her introduction at Nottingham (5f, soft) but showed more under faster conditions when midfield in a minor event at Windsor 12 days ago. Nurseries may be more her bag, though.

Verdict

TYPHOON TEN showed likeable tendencies in victory at Kempton on debut 17 days ago and could build on those exertions for Richard Hannon, who is 10-37 with two-year-old runners here in the last five years. The half-brother to Tomily is bred to be speedy and this drop in distance to 5f is unlikely to deter him. Deputise got off the mark on his second career outing last time on Tapeta, while Three Card Trick could prove best of the remainder.

Verdict

THREE CARD TRICK showed plenty of ability when runner-up on debut at York 2 weeks ago, finding only a useful sort too strong and he is fancied to strike at the second attempt. Typhoon Ten is a serious threat judged on his Kempton debut success ahead of Deputise.

Improved in defeat of late, again finding only one too good at Pontefract (6f) last month. Highly likely to play a part again.

Verdict

Richard Fahey won this race last year and looks to have another excellent chance today with CROTCHET. Narrowly beaten at Pontefract the last twice, she has posted career best efforts on both occasions and a mark of 81 looks to be within her reach. Rock On Baileys is 6-9 on Polytrack but needs to prove that she is as effective on turf, while Economic Crisis should appreciate this step back up to 6f.

Verdict

CROTCHET has done little wrong in finding only one too good on each of her last 2 starts and she is fancied to make a bold bid to go one place better. Rock On Baileys rates the chief threat.

Dual winner of 6f minor events as a 2-y-o but mixed efforts in 2 starts so far this term, fourth of 5 at listed level last time. Longer trip may bring about some improvement.

Verdict

Lake Volta is well drawn to attack and could show up well on the front end under Franny Norton, while Shabaaby was outpaced in a 6f Listed contest at Salisbury last time and is well worth a try over this longer trip. Preferred ahead of both, however, is ARBALET, a creditable fifth in the Jersey Stakes when last sighted. The selection appears favourably treated on these terms now eased in grade and in receipt of a weight-for-age allowance.

Verdict

A competitive affair on paper with the narrow vote in favour of OH THIS IS US. He was slightly below his best at Windsor on his most recent start, yet the balance of this season's efforts leave him with sound claims in this field. Arbalet, Kimberella and Shabaaby are a trio of others holding claims.

Won handicaps at Beverley and Haydock prior to disappointing back on the all-weather last time, possibly amiss.

Verdict

Carlisle winner LUCKY DEAL wasn't completely disgraced at Royal Ascot when competing in the King George V Stakes over a trip that would have been a little on the short side, but can bounce back from the same mark here back up in distance from a handy draw. Quantatmental missed out on a hat-trick on the all-weather last time but is respected for a leading handler at this track, with frequent frame-hitter King Lud also on the shortlist.

Verdict

LUCKY DEAL remains with potential as a stayer and can get back on the up now upped in trip and returned to calmer waters. Beer With The Boys and King Lud are feared most.

Verdict

Bit Of A Quirke has been in prolific form at his beloved Beverley this season, winning three in a row, but has never run from a mark this high and is yet to score away from that venue. It may be best to side with Chester specialist ICE CANYON, who followed a C&D victory with a third over further here last time and now drops back to his preferred distance. Hats Off To Larry and Bell Heather are also considered.

Verdict

For all his string of second-placed finishes are a slight cause for concern, ZLATAN is clearly in fine fettle, coming from last to first before being caught at Beverley last month. He needs to be produced late but may well get the perfect scenario here. Bakht A Rawan and the red-hot Bit Of A Quirke are just a couple of others to consider.

Verdict

Mr Wagyu has found another gear since being equipped with a visor (worn again here) and warrants plenty of respect as he bids to make it four wins from his last five starts, but CHARMING GUEST gets the vote. Mick Channon's charge won emphatically at Bath two starts ago, is only 3lb higher in this and has a plum draw in stall one. Gabrial The Devil also merits consideration following his second over the extended 7f here.

Verdict

The application of a visor has transformed MR WAGYU and this is no stronger than the races he has been landing, so further success is on the cards. Gabrial The Devil will doubtless be popular for leading local connections, while Charming Guest has landed the plum stall.

Hasn't been disgraced on 2 of his last 3 starts but his mark looks no more than average on balance.

Verdict

The one who appeals most is CHAI CHAI, with that all-important course-winning form under his belt. His recent efforts have also been encouraging and talented apprentice Joshua Bryan should be able to grab a handy early position coming from stall five. Weellan has been running consistently well all year and was less than two lengths behind a subsequent winner when fourth off this mark at Newmarket last time. He is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Gabrials Centurion is of obvious interest in the silks of Dr Marwan Koukash, who loves a winner here.

Verdict

WEELLAN has made a fine start for the David O'Meara team and is fancied to continue the good work in the finale. Chai Chai is back at the scene of his sole success while Gabrials Centurion is also worth a second look.
