Maiden hurdler who failed to back up a mildly encouraging chasing debut when beaten a long way out in handicap at Hereford. Best watched returning from 7 months off.

Verdict

LE COEUR NET warrants respect on his return from a break as he makes plenty of appeal on his 2m2f Taunton second when last sighted in April. Shrewd Tactics rattled the crossbar at Taunton on his chasing debut in March last year and should go well off this 2lb higher mark. Billy Hicks is entitled to come on for his reappearance fourth over 3m at Southwell and could also feasibly take a hand in the finish.

Verdict

BILLY HICKS was dropped 4 lb on the back of his chasing debut, quite lenient considering he jumped soundly before seeming to need the run, so it could be that this ex-pointer capitalises now fully up to speed. Shrewd Tactics would be a huge danger if ready to go on the back of a long absence and Lerichi Belle has the potential to bounce back from a poor run.

Verdict

GOOD BOY BOBBY showed no signs of rustiness when defying a 212-day absence to strike over 2m1f at Carlisle last month and he is expected to follow up under a penalty. Remastered signed off last season with a bumper victory at Chepstow and is worth a market check now moving over obstacles on his second outing for David Pipe. Lechlade Magician, who is sporting a first-time tongue-tie, is another expected to finish on the premises.

Verdict

The margin of victory, masked the superiority of GOOD BOY BOBBY's Carlisle success 24 days ago, that owing to a steady pace. He's open to improvement and can concede weight all round. A trio who impressed in bumpers, Remastered, Smiths Cross and Mick Manhattan are fancied to pose the leading threats.

Progressive hurdler last season. Will make a chaser (won maiden point on debut) but likely there will be other days.

Verdict

Albert Bartlett winner KILBRICKEN STORM looks one of the most exciting individuals to go chasing this season. He bounced back from a disappointing effort in the Challow Hurdle to win at Cheltenham, beating the likes of OK Corral and Santini, and followed up with a fine effort behind Next Destination at Punchestown. Mulcahys Hill was second in the aforementioned Challow Hurdle behind Poetic Rhythm, but that effort seemed to bottom him out and a summer break will surely have benefited him. Others to consider include Samuel Jackson, Grade 2-placed over hurdles at Doncaster, and Steely Addition, who was progressive in handicap hurdles and can make up into a decent chaser.

Verdict

KILBRICKEN STORM was one of the best staying novices over hurdles last season and this winning pointer rates an exciting chase prospect. Prime Venture and Mulcahys Hill look the biggest threats.

Fairly useful on the Flat for Archie Watson, but only minor promise when well held at Cheltenham on recent hurdling debut.

Fairly useful on the Flat for Archie Watson, but only minor promise when well held at Cheltenham on recent hurdling debut.

Verdict

ACEY MILAN was arguably England's leading bumper horse last season having continually improved from his debut effort when beaten by Volcano, who reopposes, at Exeter last October. A winner of two Listed bumpers, including at Newbury when beating some exciting individuals, he was sent off favourite for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, where he ran well to finish fourth behind Relegate, and this step up in trip looks in his favour. It is notable connections persist with Pride Of Lecale having been off the track for 947 days as he showed a fair amount of promise in bumpers. Others to consider include Volcano, third behind Pym at Chepstow and now wears a first-time hood, Lisnagar Oscar, who showed up well in a good bumper at the same track, and Court Master, who is from the family of 2004 Grand National winner Amberleigh House.

Verdict

ACEY MILAN reached a very high level in bumpers last season and seems sure to make his mark over hurdles. Court Master and Lisnagar Oscar are a couple of others to keep an eye on.

Verdict

MORE BUCK'S has thrived since joining Peter Bowen, romping to victory at Perth before landing Listed glory in Market Rasen's big summer highlight, the Summer Plate. He can complete the hat-trick for the Welsh handler reverting back to timber off a mark 5lb lower than his current figure over fences. Kaki De La Pree had a useful pipe opener at Uttoxeter and might improve for that outing, while Quiz Master was only beaten a nose over 2m5f when last seen in May and is well worth trying up in trip following a consistent 2017/2018 campaign. West Of The Edge is another to keep an eye on off a mark 13lb lower than when last running in a Listed chase at Uttoxeter in the spring.

Verdict

WEST OF THE EDGE has developed into a useful chaser since joining Dr Richard Newland and is worth siding with off a lower mark back hurdling. More Buck's thrived over fences for new trainer Peter Bowen in the summer and is much respected on his return to timber, while the consistent Quiz Master should also figure if ready to roll on his return.

Hard to trust but won this off a break from a 1 lb higher mark last year and is the subject of a positive jockey booking, so reasonable to expect a bold showing.

Verdict

JEPECK ran a solid race when dropped to 3m at Exeter when last seen in April and is of serious interest here on stable debut for Anthony Honeyball. The nine-year-old could outstay this field. He makes more appeal than Conas Taoi, who makes his first outing for Christian Williams following a long layoff, and Lunar Flow, who wears the tongue-tie/cheekpieces combination for the first time and looks on a workable mark.

Verdict

STEEL NATIVE is down to a good mark and has the added benefit of Tom Scudamore in the saddle, so he's got every chance of following up his success in this race last year. Market Road still has mileage in him from his current mark despite winning 5 times last season and he's also the subject of a positive jockey change, so he and Sir Du Bearn appeal as the dangers.

Showed first form when runner-up over 20f at Worcester in September. However, not in anything like the same form at Uttoxeter (23.3f) later that month.

Verdict

KATIE CONNELL showed promise for Phillip Hobbs at Newton Abbot last time on stable debut and could take a step forward here with that effort under her belt. Connor Brace takes off a valuable 5lb and she can account for St John's, who has gone well the last twice, and Queen Of The Wind, who has some smart form to her name in maiden company and looked to need the run at Southwell 17 days ago.

Verdict

KATIE CONNELL was given a considerate return from 4 months off on yard debut at Newton Abbot last month and she is entitled to do better now handicapping, with her bumper form worth remembering. Queen of The Wind and St John's rate next best.
