Verdict

Things did not go to plan for GIVE EM A CLUMP last time out but his form prior to that run gives him a big shout this afternoon. His stablemate Kheleyf's Girl has some respectable form to her name and she could make the frame in this moderate event. Couldn't Could She showed some encouraging signs at Kempton on Wednesday, while Dark Freedom is worth a look in the market.

Verdict

COULDN'T COULD SHE matched her previous best when fourth in a stronger event than this at Kempton recently, and more of the same may well be good enough here under her capable 5 lb claimer. Give Em A Clump and Inuk are others to consider.

Once-raced maiden. Third of 7 in minor event (100/1) at Windsor (6f, good to soft) on debut 13 days ago. Up in trip. May do better in due course.

Verdict

CHRISTOPHER WOOD made a winning debut at Salisbury back in June and he was not disgraced under a penalty when finishing fourth in a competitive Ascot novice race the following month. Yorbelucky was not beaten far in a similar event over C&D last time out, while any market support for Epic Fantasy or Our Power would have to be noted on their racecourse debuts.

Verdict

CHRISTOPHER WOOD may well have been ill-served by the tactics when fourth in a 7f minor event at Ascot recently, and he's better judged on his promising Salisbury debut success for now. Greeneyedafghan and newcomer Epic Fantasy may well emerge as the chief threats.

Verdict

It was not the strongest of races that The Groove won on his handicap debut but he has only been raised 2lb in the ratings and remains unexposed. That said, the preference is for the recent Chepstow winner TOPMEUP, whose form has improved since the visor was applied. A mark of 57 does not appear to overly burden her chances this afternoon as well. Those looking for an each-way alternative should consider Bryght Boy.

Verdict

THE GROOVE has only gone up 2 lb for his recent Salisbury success and might be capable of following up. Fellow last-time-out winner Topmeup is also much respected, while Bryght Boy performed well in cheekpieces last time and should figure again if the headgear continues to have a positive effect.

Verdict

THE BEAR CAN FLY has shown enough on his three starts to date to suggest an opening handicap mark of 63 is realistic enough to get off the mark at the fourth attempt. Fastnet Spin is mostly reliable in these kind of events and should play a hand in proceedings, while Mooroverthebridge completes the shortlist on her handicap debut after a couple of solid efforts in maidens at Windsor and Kempton.

Verdict

MISTRESS VIZ wasn't disgraced on first outing for her new yard, and with that run under her belt, she should be much sharper this time around. The Bear Can Fly has shown ability in maidens, and has to be taken seriously on handicap debut, while Waves would also be dangerous if bouncing back to form.

Plenty of good efforts in handicaps this season and latest mid-field finish at York (14f) came in a much stronger race than this one. Should go well if coping with the softer ground.

Verdict

ROLLING MAUL has improved markedly for the switch to the Flat having gone unbeaten in all three outings this year having struck up a good rapport with Joshua Bryan. He already has winning form at the track and may well have further improvement to come. Look My Way should find this assignment a lot easier than the Melrose when not disgraced in ninth behind Secret Advisor, while Champagne Champ showed an improved performance when fifth to Dubawi Fifty at Nottingham last month.

Verdict

ROLLING MAUL has been a revelation since switching to the Flat and is taken to defy the handicapper again and stretch his unbeaten record in this sphere to 4. Look My Way has had plenty of racing but is unexposed over 2m and could be the one to give Peter Bowen's charge most to do.

Latest win at Sandown in July. 3/1, fourth of 5 in handicap at Chepstow (10f, soft) 31 days ago, not ideally placed.

Verdict

LORELINA arrives here having chased home a well handicapped horse in High End at Epsom on her latest start and, despite not having the best win record, looks to have found a good opportunity with the more than capable William Cox taking off a valuable 7lb. Bybrook could appreciate the return to 1m2f with first-time cheekpieces to help sharpen her up, while Paradise Cove may benefit from the change of scenery.

Verdict

COTINGA shaped better than the bare result when fourth over this C&D last time, looking likely to play a major role but ultimately paying the price for a big move into contention, and is taken to make amends. Lorelina can fill second spot again.

Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, good second of 8 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 18 days ago, nearest finish.

Verdict

PASTORAL MUSIC dropped from staying distances to finish a good second over a similar trip to this at Bath last time and he could defy the burden of top weight here. Inconceivable is consistent without getting her head in front and is likely to hit the frame once again, while Eolian won here two starts back and must be respected.

Verdict

INCONCEIVABLE ran well when second at Brighton 2 weeks ago despite being unsuited by the tactical nature of the race and has solid claims of finally getting off the mark. The reliable Pastoral Music is feared most ahead of Prussian Eagle, who ran well over hurdles on Tuesday.
