Maiden who has had issues with his jumping over fences upon joining new yard this spring. No surprise to see him switch back to hurdles but that needs to spark a revival.

Verdict

Howlongisafoot went some way to putting a Plumpton disappointment behind him when second over course and distance, and the application of a visor could prompt further improvement. Mr Fickle has that particular headgear back on in an attempt to perk him up, while Versifier is tried in cheekpieces again, but SWIFT NATIVE is less exposed than her rivals and Nick Gifford's point-to-point winner begins handicap life off a really lowly mark.

Verdict

Having been given a big chance by the handicapper, HOWLONGISAFOOT returned to form when keeping on well for second over C&D last month and he gets the nod to back that up from the same mark now. Versifier, dropping back down in trip, rates the chief threat in a race where most have something to prove.

French juvenile hurdle winner in 2016 who struggled in handicaps last term. However, he shaped okay when mid-field back over fences at Warwick before unshipping rider at Fakenham.

Verdict

Mercian King took a step back in the right direction when filling the runner-up berth at Stratford but has been raised 3lb for it, so another chance is given to LE PRECIEUX, who only got as far as the sixth at Fakenham but he was sent off favourite and is fancied to make amends. Last month's Towcester spin will have blown away any cobwebs Royal Plaza might have had, while last year's winner Purple 'n Gold is struggling for form.

Verdict

LE PRECIEUX remains capable of better in this sphere and this looks a good opportunity for him to break his duck over fences. Mercian King was back to form at Stratford last time and is feared most.

Placed in a couple of bumpers for Don Cantillon in 2016 but no show in 2 outings over hurdles for this yard recently.

Verdict

TORCELLO was a smart Flat handicapper and although he has taken his time to get his act together over hurdles, his quality shone through when he got off the mark at Tramore and he can take this prize back across the Irish Sea. Roll Of The Dice broke through at this venue but the resulting penalty means that Nicky Henderson's jumping newcomer Mill Green is perhaps a bigger danger, even if his bumper form is nothing special.

Verdict

Irish-raider TORCELLO's useful Flat ability means he could easily build on his recent Tramore success and he gets the vote under Richard Johnson. Mill Green has progressed nicely in bumpers and may provide a bigger threat than last month's course maiden winner Roll of The Dice.

Has very little ability and makes no appeal from out of the weights.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT BLISS completed a quickfire hat-trick between the flags and made a smooth transition to racing under Rules at Fakenham. He benefited from a positive Bryony Frost ride on that occasion and is taken to defy a 13lb hike. Roparta Avenue deserves to get his head in front following a couple of seconds, the most recent of which came over timber here. Guerrilla Tactics went really close at Warwick and he will have his supporters again, and Barlow is interesting if raring to go after a break.

Verdict

Multiple point winner MIDNIGHT BLISS was potentially let-in lightly for handicap debut at Fakenham 2 weeks ago and duly made a successful start to her chasing career, and she looks capable of following up. Guerrilla Tactics is next best ahead of Barlow.

Reacted positively to blinkers when off the mark in 22f Fontwell handicap 3 weeks ago, though he was helped by the runner-up rather throwing the race away. Up 6 lb.

Verdict

Boss Mans Ladder followed up a Stratford success with a pair of solid efforts in defeat at Warwick and gets another chance off the same mark as when third at the Midlands track last time, while The Black Squirrel has filled the runner-up spot on both starts this summer and runs off the same rating as when second at Uttoxeter. GENEROUS CHIEF gets the vote, though, as he won with a bit in hand at Stratford last time and a 4lb rise may have underestimated him.

Verdict

THE BLACK SQUIRREL leaves the impression this trip will suit and gets the vote for the Warren Greatrex/Richard Johnson combination. Under The Phone made a good return to hurdles when fourth at Warwick last time and merits respect, while Boss Mans Ladder can extend his run of good efforts and reach the frame again.

Long-standing maiden who was beaten a long way out over a longer trip here on return and is hard to fancy.

Verdict

Mrsrobin made light work of her rivals at Uttoxeter last time, but a 15lb hike in the ratings seems harsh. Similarly, a 2lb rise for Midnight Gem's third at Market Rasen could be seen as a little on the strict side, especially when course specialist SPIRITOFCHARTWELL was raised just 1lb for winning here in March. Phil York's gelding has taken third and second in subsequent starts at this venue and steps up to a more suitable trip here.

Verdict

MRSROBIN has been hit hard by the handicapper since her Uttoxeter win on debut for Dan Skelton but, based on the ease with which she did it and the record of her new stable in improving horses, she still looks comfortably ahead of her new mark and should prove the point here. Between The Waters shaped nicely on his return and should provide the main danger ahead of Spiritofchartwell.

Losing run dates back to August 2016 (Flat handicap in Ireland). Third from 4 lb higher over fences on his penultimate start, but not in the same form at Bangor. Back hurdling.

Verdict

Atalanta's Gold followed up a Towcester success with a fair second at Market Rasen last time and though she's up 7lb for those efforts, she has to enter the reckoning. Chimes Of Dylan has shown enough in novice and maiden hurdles to suggest he can be competitive off a mark of 114, but the unexposed STARCROSSED gets the vote. Dan Skelton's gelding won nicely at Huntingdon on his penultimate start and was not completely disgraced at Towcester last time in a race where the third has won since.

Verdict

REBEL YEATS shaped well in a higher grade than this on last month's return at Warwick, and with a very capable rider taking off 10 lb, she looks to have a lot in her favour. Starcrossed should have more to offer in handicaps and has to be feared, with Monday Club interesting, too.
