Remains with one standout effort in this sphere and others preferred.

Verdict

Roman Numeral put this year's previous moderate efforts behind him when springing a surprise at Southwell but he isn't guaranteed to back that up off a 5lb higher rating. Agentleman made a pleasing start to life with Peter Winks when second at Market Rasen but the assessor hasn't taken any chances with him either. REVERSE THE CHARGE and Indian Voyage took minor honours over C&D last month and the former can confirm that superiority en route to finally breaking his duck.

Verdict

This looks wide open so a chance is taken on INDIAN VOYAGE. He has fallen to an attractive mark and bounced back to form when third over C&D on his most recent outing. Tesscomponents Max, Agentleman and Reverse The Charge are a trio of others to consider.

Modest on the Flat (little impact of late) and never on terms starting out over hurdles at Market Rasen last month.

Verdict

High Jinx is the obvious starting point but this comes hot on the heels of Friday night's Aintree outing so a safer option is CRUSHED. Alan King doesn't send many runners to Hexham but his representative arrives on the back of a decent Cartmel third and had previously struck at Plumpton. Macardle is gradually getting the hang of things and shouldn't be far away, but Placedela Concorde needs to prove that his Kelso success was no fluke.

Verdict

It's slightly surprising to see HIGH JINX dropped to 2m, but he was very impressive on hurdles debut at Kelso last month and is still fully expected to outclass these under a penalty (very smart stayer on the level at best). Crushed is preferred to Macardle for forecast purposes.

Useful efforts in defeat over fences first 3 runs last season and, while he produced a poor effort over timber at Haydock last time, a return to form would be more than enough to see him take this.

Verdict

When last seen over fences, THE UNIT was pitched into the Pendil at Kempton and emerged with credit after chasing home Cyrname. Since then, he has finished in mid-division in a couple of really competitive handicap hurdles, and this appears an excellent opportunity for him. It isn't a penalty kick, though, because Jacks Last Hope was smart over the smaller obstacles himself and got on the scoresheet in this sphere at Perth last month. Sigurd and Loch Linnhe can fight it out for third.

Verdict

THE UNIT would be one of the higher rate maiden chasers around having bumped into the likes of Willoughby Court and Cyrname last season and this looks like an ideal opportunity for this useful type to get off the mark, with Perth-winner Jacks Last Hope his only feasible danger.

Verdict

SILVER CONCORDE rediscovered some of the sparkle that carried him to Champion Bumper glory back in 2014 during a profitable mid-winter spell, and this is a far more suitable test for than him than the Aintree Grade 1 and Chester Cup he has contested since. Desert Island Dusk arrives on the back of a C&D triumph and may be the primary danger, although nothing can be ruled out of a trappy little contest, with Card Game also bringing good Hexham form to the table.

Verdict

SWEET HOLLY took another step forward when third at Cartmel last month, coming from a long way back in the process, so she could be the answer back at this more conventional track. Sky Khan is well weighted nowadays though clearly isn't the easiest to win with, while recent C&D scorer Desert Island Dusk should give it another good go.

Verdict

The Jam Man's winning spree may have come to an end but he lost absolutely nothing in defeat when beaten half a length into third at Perth. He is up another 6lb, though, and is passed over in favour of KICK ON DOTTIE, who supplemented her 50/1 2m success here when returning to capture a prize over half a mile further, and she could improve again for this trip. Second Time Around hasn't run badly since going handicapping but may need some help from the assessor.

Verdict

THE JAM MAN was beaten less than half a length in his bid for a four-timer at Perth in April and looks the type to go on improving, so he gets the vote ahead of another improving sort in Kick On Dottie, with Second Time Around likely to pose a threat if benefiting from this longer trip.
