€50,000 3-y-o, closely related to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Cogry (19f-3¼m winner). Makes appeal on paper and worth a precautionary market check ahead of racecourse debut.

Verdict

CAUSE TOUJOURS was sent off favourite in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March but he did not quite live up to expectations on that occasion. The same could be said about his hurdles debut at Uttoxeter but it is far too soon to be writing off this five-year-old. Theclockisticking and Canyon City are others with solid claims, while any market support for Maronette would have to be noted given her pedigree.

Verdict

THECLOCKISTICKING was most impressive when landing a novice event at Fakenham last month, noticeably travelling strongly and ultimately drawing clear. He could be the way to go and earns the vote. Cause Toujour's hurdling debut effort was perfectly respectable and he should improve though, while Canyon City shouldn't be dismissed lightly either.

Of little account these days and he's very hard to fancy from miles out the weights.

Verdict

FIRMOUNT GENT appeared to be the most likely winner when he unseated his rider at the last fence at Plumpton earlier in the month. The veteran can make amends by taking this contest from the same mark. The Artful Cobbler makes his chasing debut from a rating that should be workable if taking to the larger obstacles. Glengra is not the most reliable of geldings but has the ability to go well in a race of this nature.

Verdict

FIRMOUNT GENT looked the most likely winner before coming to grief at the last at Plumpton recently, and he can gain compensation here. The returning Glengra is comfortably the most intriguing of the remainder.

Fit from the Flat when justifying support at Plumpton in September but has finished down the field at Wincanton and Ascot (2 lengths behind Caid du Lin) since.

Verdict

CALL ME LORD made a big impression when making a winning debut for this yard at Sandown back in April and the four-year-old looks to have a bright future ahead of him. High Secret finished fourth in a Grade One at Aintree last season and has run well on the Flat over the summer, while Caid Du Lin and So Celebre are others to consider in a competitive event.

Verdict

CALL ME LORD made a winning start for Nicky Henderson in a warm race at Sandown in April despite things not really going his way and he has the potential to make up into a very smart performer this term. Caid du Lin showed enough to suggest he's still in form in an ultra-competitive heat at Ascot last time and may prove next best ahead of So Celebre.

Confirmed promise of chasing debut, for all he was a fortunate winner on the day when winning at Ludlow (16f) last month. Remains open to improvement.

Verdict

Darebin improved from his return at Ludlow to win at the same track last month. He runs here off the same mark so is entitled to go close once again. Scoop The Pot has been performing well in staying handicap hurdles recently so could find the drop to an extended two miles on the sharp side. The vote goes to CYRNAME on his chasing debut because he should improve for his Chepstow effort and may have more to come over fences.

Verdict

CYRNAME has given the impression there’s a bigger effort in him, and chasing may just prove to be the making of him. However, Darebin and Scoop The Plot also have strong claims in a small but competitive field.

No worthwhile form in this sphere and readily passed over.

Verdict

UNCLE PERCY seemed to benefit for the step up in trip when third at Worcester last month and, on that form alone, he looks to have excellent claims of registering his first success over timber. The first-time cheekpieces are also a positive. Cheltenam De Vaige was runner-up on his first outing for Fergal O'Brien at Plumpton and could find further improvement, while Mariners Moon is just one more to consider.

Verdict

CHELTENAM DE VAIGE showed every bit and more of the ability he displayed for his old yard when runner-up at Plumpton last month, and with further potential for this stable (still only a 5-y-o), he can go one better. Xhale requires market scrutiny on his yard debut from a low mark, while Uncle Percy makes up the shortlist.

25/1 and hooded, showed ability when 4 lengths third of 13 on C&D debut 40 days ago. Likely to be in the shake-up again.

Verdict

MABELA looks a fairly-bred individual from a decent family and she hails from a yard that can, more often than not, get one ready for their debut. Myboysam is from the family of Manyriverstocross and should have enough speed in his pedigree to make his mark. Others to watch include Barrsbrook and Wishmaker, with the latter well backed before his introduction at Market Rasen when third.

Verdict

WISHMAKER shaped with plenty of promise on his Market Rasen debut and gets the verdict with improvement on the cards, although strong market support for newcomers such as Alan King's Myboysam and/or Dan Skelton's Mabela would put a slightly different slant on things. Shaella was third on her C&D debut and also merits respect.
