Modest filly. 7/2, respectable second of 5 in seller at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 4 days ago.

Verdict

CAROUSE opened his account in a 7f maiden here last time and is expected to be competitive on these terms now moving into claiming grade and stepped up in trip. Bungee Jump has been in great order over 6f since striking over 7f here in January but needs to prove her stamina for this longer trip. Laytown kept on at the one pace when second over 7f at Wolverhampton latest and may thus emerge as a bigger danger.

Verdict

BUNGEE JUMP was a good second when bidding for the hat-trick at Kempton on Saturday and has an excellent chance of resuming winning ways on these terms. Carouse is the obvious threat.

Career best when winning 5-runner handicap at Newcastle (8f, 10/1) 5 days ago, having run of race. Can make presence felt.

Verdict

Bad Dog struck off this mark in an apprentice handicap at Newcastle last time and is expected to give a good account over this shorter trip, with Sean Levey taking over in the saddle. Narrow preference, however, is for FIERY BREATH, who appeared to win a shade cosily over track and trip when last sighted and is expected to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings. Cloud Eight, Marshal Dan and Renny's Lady are all potential improvers on their handicap debuts.

Verdict

FIERY BREATH left his previous efforts well behind when making a winning handicap debut over C&D on his return last month, landing a gamble in the process, and looks a big player again up 4 lb. Cloud Eight is going the right way so needs keeping an eye on now handicapping, while Renny's Lady is another who looks open to progress.

Verdict

Mighty Mac posted a solid effort in defeat when fifth over C&D last time and should be thereabouts with a repeat effort, though stronger appeal is made by SWEET AND DANDY. The selection is penalised for scoring over track and trip latest but the booking of a useful claimer effectively offsets the weight burden. Heptathlete should be all the wiser for the experience gained over 7f on debut at Kempton and could also take a hand.

Verdict

HEPTATHLETE wasn't beaten far despite failing to settle when fourth on debut at Kempton in September and the drop back in trip should help in this stage of her development. Sweet And Dandy had Mighty Mac behind her when winning over C&D 3 weeks ago but the latter should finish closer with Sweet And Dandy now penalised.

Second of 4 in handicap (6/4) at Southwell (5f) 13 days ago, missing break. Back up in trip. Claims if proving just as effective on polytrack.

Verdict

Snaffled will likely be a warm order after scoring over this trip at Wolverhampton last time but now stepping up from 5f on what is only her second start for Archie Watson, POETIC IMAGINATION could be the one to be on instead. Samovar and Queen Of Kalahari have both been performing with credit in defeat of late, with the latter considered the biggest threat to the selection now sporting a first-time hood this afternoon.

Verdict

SNAFFLED had plenty in hand when opening his account at Wolverhampon last month, and he appeals as the type to rate a fair bit higher in time. Samovar is capable of making his presence felt if proving just as effective on polytrack, while Queen of Kalahari shouldn't be taken lightly on first start for Les Eyre, either.

Verdict

RED VERDON is penalised for scoring in Listed company at Kempton in November but ran to a solid level of form that day and is expected to remain competitive now eased in grade and returning over the same trip. The principal threat could be Great Hall, who enjoyed a productive 2017 on turf and is worth a market check now returning from a 130-day absence. Celestial Path was last seen on a racecourse finishing fifth over hurdles at Bangor last August and is interesting on his return having undergone wind surgery in the interim period, while Calling Out can also go well.

Verdict

RED VERDON looks the one to be on after landing a good listed event at Kempton in November. Great Hall may prove the biggest threat.

Verdict

PRIDE OF ANGELS followed up her C&D victory on New Year's Eve with a solid performance in defeat here 18 days ago, going down by under a length off 2lb lower. Another big run likely beckons from Gary Moore's five-year-old, who shades the verdict ahead of Strategic Heights, who finished one place behind her in third last time, and Billyoakes, who returned to form with a solid third at Chelmsford last time out.

Verdict

PRIDE OF ANGELS looked unlucky not to follow up when runner over C&D last month, but this represents a good opportunity to gain compensation. Billyoakes was also unfortunate recently and he should continue to give a good account, while Awesome Allan isn’t one to write off.

Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2017. 14/1, last of 10 in handicap at this course (7f, AW) 28 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Something to find on form.

Verdict

Pivotal Flame got up in the final strides to win by a neck over track and trip last time and should be thereabouts with a repeat performance, though narrow preference is for Chelmsford third SQUIRE, who has dropped to an exploitable mark at present and may find the configuration of this track more to his liking. This is tougher than the seller Black Dave won last time but he has place claims along with admirable veteran Karam Albaari all the same.

Verdict

PIVOTAL FLAME remains with handicapping scope and is selected to follow up last month’s C&D success. Rowlestonerendezvu shouldn't be far away, while Karam Albaari is capable of bouncing back granted a good pace to aim at.
