Creditable second of 11 in handicap (10/11) at Brighton (9.9f, heavy) when last seen in October. 6 lb higher back on AW but respected nonetheless.

Verdict

ROCKSETTE may remain a maiden by the daughter of Mount Nelson has finished a close second on her last two starts and she will take plenty of beating if ready to go after a 148-day break. Secret Return is unexposed and her maiden form suggests that an opening mark of 68 should be workable. Others to note are Andalusite, Highway One and Sonnet Rose.

Verdict

The vote goes to the consistent SONNET ROSE, who finished third behind a couple of low-mileage fillies over C&D recently and she looks the most solid of these. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Secret Return will raise her game now handicapping but First Experience, a C&D winner last month, and Narjes, who pulled too hard when upped to 1¼m here last time, rate the main dangers.

Verdict

Ifwecan is the one that stands out with an official rating of 91 but these races often go the way of the best in-form participant. That could be RIVELLINO, who won in this grade at Dundalk last week and he has joined a yard in decent form at the moment. Bungee Jump also makes plenty of appeal at these weights, while Exchequer also merits respect.

Verdict

It's been a while since EXCHEQUER last tasted success, but he's been knocking on the door in handicaps for David O'Meara and may well regain the winning thread now eased in grade on debut for new yard. With Bungee Jump's latest effort suggesting that she may be ready for a break following a busy spell, Ifwecan is feared most.

Twice-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 20/1). Off 128 days and significantly up in trip.

Verdict

NIGHT STORY created a very good impression when chasing home a stablemate over 1m2f here last week. There is plenty of stamina in his pedigree and the son of Shamardal should only improve for that experience. Dalileo is another who has displayed a decent level of ability already in his short career and he is a clear threat to the selection. Yabass won on debut but, like his last run, he is vulnerable under a 4lb penalty.

Verdict

This should boil down to a straight fight between NIGHT STORY and Dalileo. Preference is for the former, who shaped with a good deal of promise on recent debut here and represents a yard that has been firing in winners left, right and centre of late. Yabass looks vulnerable under a penalty and Rocky Shores will be of greater in handicaps further down the line.

Verdict

Island Brave has to be given the utmost respect given that he arrives here having won four of his last five starts and he was only beaten a head on the occasion he tasted defeat. That said, preference is for KOEMAN, who returned from a lengthy break to finish third in a valuable event at Kempton last month. That contest appears to be stronger than this race and the son of Dutch Art can race off the same mark. Regicide won well last time out and may have more to offer, while Snowy Winter should run her usual solid race.

Verdict

REGICIDE did the job well when scoring over C&D last month, form which received a timely boost when the runner-up won at Wolverhampton on Wednesday. James Fanshawe's charge is now 7 lb higher in a tougher race, but he's lightly-raced for his age and may well strike again. The progressive Island Brave looks a big threat, while Koeman also merits respect on the back of his solid effort at Kempton.

Once-raced maiden. 100/1 and hooded, eleventh of 12 in minor event at this C&D (AW) on debut 27 days ago.

Verdict

It is a concern that Crown Walk was beaten at 1-5 last time out in a six-runner affair and she didn't exactly look to be the easiest of rides on that occasion. She has a hood and tongue-tie now, while stablemate Fountain Of Time is interesting but one would assume that James Doyle had the pick of the pair and that must be a concern for the newcomer. John Gosden doesn't mind introducing a nice one on the all-weather and PLAYFULL SPIRIT could be the one. A relation to Group 1 winner Charming Thought, she should know her task.

Verdict

The hint should be taken if the market vibes surrounding newcomer PLAYFULL SPIRIT are upbeat. Indeed, she ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut. Crown Walk was turned over when long odds-on at Wolverhampton but is worth another chance back down in trip with headgear enlisted. Stablemate Fountain of Time needs a market check.

Verdict

REGINA NOSTRA was always handily positioned when beating a weak field at Wolverhampton last month and could have more to offer for master handler William Haggas. An opening mark of 68 looks more than fair for this well-bred filly and she can account for Miss Milla B, who put up a career best when third at Chelmsford recently, and Sweet Symphony, who has been running well in recent times and wears a first-time hood.

Verdict

It's hard not to be drawn to REGINA NOSTRA, who made it third time lucky at Wolverhampton last month and there should be more to come from this well-bred filly now handicapping. Sweet Symphony has been placed on each of her 3 starts since the turn of the year and is next best ahead of Alifax.

Verdict

NEW ORLEANS has been placed twice over this course and distance in novice events and looks to be on a fair mark on handicap debut under James Doyle for the first time. The three-year-old can account for Cloud Eight, who seemed to relish a step up to this distance when a close fourth here four weeks ago, and Freebe Rocks, who is a consistent type and looked to need a stronger gallop when a beaten favourite at Chelmsford latest.

Verdict

Dropping back in trip shouldn't inconvenience DOLLY MIXTURE, who found just one too good on handicap debut over a mile here 18 days ago. She remains open to improvement and can open her account. Freebe Rocks has done well since switched to handicaps and should be firmly in the mix once again, while Cloud Eight and Straight Ash both make some each-way appeal.
