Verdict

With no form to go on the market will be the best guide to expectations but the nod goes to PESTO , who is a half-brother to the multiple Listed winner Gusto and the son of New Approach cost connections 80,000gns as a yearling. Burj is a half-brother to the recent Nell Gwyn winner Soliloquy and he has to be given the utmost respect this afternoon. Pogo is bred to be a sharp two-year-old and it would be no surprise to see him go well, while Advertise and Eyelool also warrant consideration.

Verdict

A field full of debutants, and the market should reveal plenty of clues, but EYELOOL, Burj and Pesto all stand out on paper, and they are preferred in that order as things stand.

Verdict

FLY THE NEST displayed plenty of promise when finishing second in what could prove to be an above-average maiden at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago. If he can improve for that experience then the son of Kodiac will be tough to beat this afternoon. Happy Power cost 625,000gns as a yearling and he is out of a half-sister to the Rockfel winner Cairns. The Paddocks was a 120,00-euro purchase and his dam is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Pomology as well as Tommy Taylor, who won a Listed race last season. Blonde Warrior, a close relation to Fastnet Tempest, and Artistic Rifles are others who should be monitored in the market.

Verdict

FLY THE NEST showed plenty over 5f at Newmarket on debut just under two weeks ago, and looks the one they all have to beat. Much of the opposition is made up of newcomers, and Blonde Warrior may turn out to be the best of those, though The Paddocks and Mykindofsunshine both appeal on paper, also.

Snapped a losing run at Epsom in July (last 3 wins gained there) but well adrift of Ice Age on final run of 2017, and his record when fresh doesn't augur well ahead of this assignment.

Snapped a losing run at Epsom in July (last 3 wins gained there) but well adrift of Ice Age on final run of 2017, and his record when fresh doesn't augur well ahead of this assignment.

Verdict

BARON BOLT was only denied by a neck in a very competitive contest at Newmarket 12 days ago and he can run off the same mark today, leaving the five-year-old 2lb well in. This is a decent race but a reproduction of that effort should be good enough to score. Poet's Vanity makes her handicap debut this afternoon and she was a Group 3 winner as juvenile. A mark of 96 should be workable and 6f may bring about the best in this keen-going filly. The Daley Express has to be considered given his recent form, while Global Applause also has an each-way chance.

Verdict

Though he doesn't appear to be entirely straightforward, ULTIMATE AVENUE is unquestionably talented and this lightly-raced 4-y-o could take some stopping if responding well to the new headgear. The consistent Baron Bolt lost no caste in defeat on return at Newmarket and another bold show is anticipated, while The Daley Express, who has improved this season, and Ice Age also enter calculations.

Belatedly off the mark at Kempton (1½m) in March and consistent run continued back on turf when third at Lingfield recently. Place possibilities off same mark here.

Verdict

RUBENSIAN has not been beaten far in either of his last two starts and the five-year-old can earn his third victory this afternoon. Sky Marshal would be a big threat if he can transfer his all-weather form to the turf, while similar comments also apply to Famous Dynasty and Epitaph. Orin Swift has not been seen since October but he did end his 2017 campaign with a good run at Windsor.

Verdict

Likely to be spot-on following last month's Wolverhampton reappearance spin, KERRERA could be the answer to this tricky-looking handicap. She produced a career-best by some way when scoring at Newmarket in August and remains unexposed on turf. Rubensian and Sky Marshal will be live dangers if reproducing their improved AW form on this switch back to turf and Sufi is also one for the shortlist.
