Won C&D handicap under this rider last month and went as if still in form when fourth at Ayr next time, losing good position on the home turn. One to consider.

Verdict

SALUTI narrowly failed to claim a hat-trick off 3lb higher over course and distance last time and ran better than his finishing position of fourth suggested. He remains in good form and could have too much for War Glory, who was backed last time when second but is now 0-12 on turf, and Swift Approval, who didn't appreciate Tapeta last time but has gone well on grass the last twice for the excellent Ian Williams.

Verdict

SWIFT APPROVAL is yet to run a bad race over C&D and can win this for the second time in 3 years. War Glory is in good form and looks the big danger under Ryan Moore. Maksab is another who goes well on this course and shouldn't be discounted.

Oasis Dream filly who struck at the first time of asking at Yarmouth in June prior to an improved showing when fifth of 18 to Main Edition in the Albany. Open to further progress.

Verdict

MAIN EDITION is unbeaten in three starts which includes success in the Albany at Royal Ascot, where she showed a very game attitude to fend off the reopposing La Pelosa, and Mark Johnston's filly looks likely to confirm that form and maintain her unbeaten record. La Pelosa has to be respected on that showing behind the selection as she was only beaten a neck and is likely to have more to come. Gossamer Wings went close in the Queen Mary when denied by a short-head by Signora Cabello but has to prove herself stepping back up from 5f.

Verdict

The Albany form is key and LA PELOSA is taken to reverse placings from Royal Ascot with Main Edition. That was just her second career start and she seemed to lack the know-how of the winner in the closing stages. She can improve past her now. Chaleur is another exciting filly and needs considering at a bigger price.

Winner of his last 2 starts but set a stiff task on handicap bow.

Verdict

Wissahickon won nicely at York on his handicap debut 13 days ago when getting the better of Beringer and the son of Tapit is still on the upgrade with this only his fifth career outing. Zaaki has to carry top-weight but ran a fine race when third behind Hunting Horn in the Hampton Court at Royal Ascot and should post a bold showing on that evidence. Mark Johnston's pair, Communique and Poet's Prince, cannot be discounted with the Middleham handler having won four of the last five renewals, but the pair need to return to the form they showed in the London Gold Cup at Newbury where they finished ahead of CHIEF IRONSIDE. The son of Lawman stepped forward from that third-placed effort when winning over this C&D a fortnight ago and still looks to have more to offer, despite a 7lb rise.

Verdict

WISSAHICKON is improving in leaps and bounds and looked a very smart colt in the making when winning at York last month, recording a fast timefigure. He can take this with Group company clearly on the horizon. Desert Wind and Zaaki are also progressing nicely and have to be feared.

Smart performer who won listed race at York prior to finishing 6 lengths second to Alpha Centauri in Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Appeals as the sort to do better still.

Verdict

It is hard to oppose ALPHA CENTAURI after her impressive victories in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Irish 1,000 Guineas. On the most recent of those occasions she beat Threading by six lengths and that field included both the English and French Guineas winners. She has upwards of 11lb in hand according to official ratings and it would be a surprise if she were to taste defeat. The aforementioned Threading may chase her home once again, although Clemmie cannot be discounted given her juvenile form.

Verdict

ALPHA CENTAURI is difficult to oppose following an outstanding performance in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and can complete a hat-trick of Group 1s. Threading is the type to do better still and could be the one to chase Alpha Centauri home again.

Verdict

A race that often goes to an above-average winner and MOUNT TABORA can add his name to the roll of honour. The son of Scat Daddy ran green on his debut at the Curragh but, like most from this yard, he could take a big step forward. Dombra and Nayef Road are others who can be expected to go well based on their previous efforts, while there are some extremely well-bred newcomers in the field and arguably the most eye-catching of them is Al Hilalee. The son of Dubawi is the first foal out of 1m2f Group 1 winner Ambivalent and he cost connections 300,000gns as a yearling. William Buick takes the ride on stablemate Art Du Val, while Al Mureib, Kuwait Currency and Machell Place are other debutants who warrant consideration.

Verdict

The strength behind MOUNT TABORA in the market on his Curragh debut looks significant and he's taken to prove a different proposition second time up. Machell Place and the Charlie Appleby pair Art du Val and Al Hilalee head a number of interesting newcomers, while Nayef Road and Dombra both shaped nicely when runner-up recently.

Useful hurdler who returns to this sphere on a workable mark and can't be ruled out.

Useful hurdler who returns to this sphere on a workable mark and can't be ruled out.

Verdict

Elgin is a high-class hurdler and he has been successful at Chelmsford and Catterick on the Flat in recent months. The concern regarding his chance is the forecast good to firm ground and with that in mind, preference is for HAMADA. The son of Cape Cross arrives having won a competitive handicap at York in May and the second from that contest was only beaten a neck in the Old Newton Cup last weekend, off a 3lb higher mark. That evidence suggests that this lightly-raced four-year-old may be underestimated by a rating of 96, especially as the extra couple of furlongs today may bring about further improvement. Natural Scenery was disappointing in the Northumberland Plate but it is too soon to be writing her off.

Verdict

ELGIN scored with plenty in hand for the second time in this sphere at Catterick last month, and there’s every chance his opening mark could underestimate him given his very smart form over hurdles. Hamada remains lightly raced and is likely to improve further, while Saunter may benefit from a return to this trip.

Has made an encouraging start and showed benefit of reappearance run to shed maiden tag at Beverley (8.4f) last month, forging clear. May do better again now switching to handicaps.

Verdict

It may be a clue in itself the Ryan Moore takes over aboard David Elsworth's Victoria Cup winner RIPP ORF, who steps back up to a mile having followed up his Ascot success with a near miss over this distance at Newbury, and a disappointment back down at 7f at Epsom. Corrosive was well fancied when beaten five lengths in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and the two-time winner this term could easily be on the premises here. Vitamin is 5lb higher than when landing a C&D handicap cosy enough last month, while Beverley maiden winner Court Of Justice is another to watch out for on his handicap bow.
