Dubawi colt who made a most taking winning debut in 9-runner minor at this venue (6f) last month, eased down. Potentially smart.

Verdict

QUORTO got off the mark at the first time of asking in a 6f novice contest here last month and is bred to improve for this additional furlong given he's a son of Dubawi and out of a Mount Nelson mare who placed in the Oaks and Irish Oaks. Certain Lad was tapped for toe when third in the Railway Stakes on a foray to Ireland and will appreciate this stiffer test. The pick of the remainder may be John Gosden's Daafr, who confirmed he's on an upward trajectory when striking at Newcastle.

Verdict

Dubawi colt QUORTO looked a potentially smart prospect in the making when winning with plenty to spare at this venue last month, and can take the step up in grade in his stride. Cape of Good Hope is from a family that gets better with age so is likely to progress further, while Blown By Wind is a tough and consistent sort who shouldn't be dismissed for all he perhaps lacks the potential of some.

Has won 7f handicaps at Newcastle and Doncaster this season and ran well at York last time. Not many miles on the clock and an interesting runner.

Verdict

GILGAMESH is a relatively lightly-raced four-year-old and he was unlucky to be drawn on the wrong side when finishing seventh in the Victoria Cup at Ascot in May. He swiftly followed that up with a victory at York and he was then far from disgraced when finding six furlongs too sharp in the Wokingham. Mubtasim finished third in the Jersey last season and both of his efforts so far this campaign have been encouraging. Others to consider in a very competitive contest are Makzeem, Mukalal and Spanish City.

Verdict

The relatively-unexposed MUKALAL makes most appeal. He left the impression a return to 7f would suit when shaping better than the result in the Royal Hunt Cup last time and both his physique and pedigree suggest he should have even more to offer. Firmament also caught the eye in the same race, and lurks on a dangerous mark. Gilgamesh completes the shortlist.

Verdict

BLUE POINT produced one of the most impressive performances of Royal Ascot week when beating the likes of Battaash and Lady Aurelia in the King's Stand, and with stepping back up from 5f more of a help than a hindrance here, he is hard to oppose. The first and second home in the Commonwealth Cup, Eqtidaar and Sands Of Mali, should both take close order again, with the latter fancied to turn the tables. U S Navy Flag, back sprinting for the first time this season, and John Gosden's progressive Dreamfield add further spice to the contest.

Verdict

An open-looking renewal with a nice mix of 3-y-os and older horses, but the latter group has the best form as it stands, notably BLUE POINT, who proved better than ever when winning the King's Stand at Royal Ascot last month. Dreamfield is a fascinating runner, while Eqtidaar and U S Navy Flag look the pick of the 3-y-os.

Verdict

ASSEMBLY OF TRUTH was not beaten far at all on her debut at Yarmouth and that form was boosted when the winner finished fifth in the Albany. If she can improve for that experience, Charlie Appleby's filly will be hard to beat. Gallic is the pick of the remainder with race experience having finished second at Doncaster. New Jazz is from the final crop of Scat Daddy and cost $550,000 as a yearling, while another expensive purchase is Rux Power, who is a half-sister to a juvenile Listed winner. That said, the most eyecatching newcomer is Zagitova, who fetched 1.6m guineas and is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Garswood.

Verdict

Probably a hot maiden and SPANISH ARIA is taken to get off the mark following her eye-catching Newbury debut. The betting will yield plenty of clues, with Zagitova very interesting first time up for Aidan O'Brien. Assembly of Truth is another to consider after an encouraging start at Yarmouth when sent off a short price.

Progressive but last of 8 off stiff opening mark at Doncaster 8 weeks ago and more needed.

Verdict

CURIOSITY was thwarted by a neck over this trip on the Rowley Mile and then posted an even better effort when second in the Britannia. Hugo Palmer's charge has been handed a 3lb rise but is seemingly well suited by a stiff mile on fast ground and can get back on the winning trail. Argentello, Moqarrab and Ibraz all continue to improve, especially the latter, who dug in well to strike at Sandown. The step up from 7f could be a source of immediate improvement for recent Listed second Clubbable.

Verdict

IBRAZ beat a pair of subsequent winners on his handicap debut at Sandown 4 weeks ago and surely has more to offer after just 4 career outings. Curiosity is high on the shortlist after his excellent second in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, while Moqarrab looks another smart prospect.

Improved when off the mark at the sixth attempt in Leicester maiden last week so warrants respect.

Verdict

PERFECTION ran with real credit when fifth in the Sandringham and John Gosden's Dutch Art filly, who was a handy winner over on the Rowley Mile the time before, is backed to relish the return to seven furlongs. Poetic Charm was back in 12th in that contest at the Royal meeting on her first run for 287 days, but she could easily build on that having been another to score at the seven-furlong distance in the past. Leicester winner Amandine and Cavatina are the others capable of figuring.

Verdict

PERFECTION posted a big effort (more so than the ratings suggest) when fifth of 23 in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot last month, going off hard and racing alone, and makes plenty of appeal off the same mark in this lesser affair. Amandine won her maiden in good style at Leicester last week and is next best ahead of Cavatina, who's back down in class.

Winner at Newcastle in March. Very good second of 5 in handicap at Haydock (12f, good to firm) last month but unable to repeat that at Windsor since.

Verdict

BURGONET went on a winning spree for Mark Johnston before it came to an end on her latest start at Salisbury when finishing fourth. The daughter of Helmet can bounce back to her best and reverse form with Drill (third), who needs to prove himself at the trip having appeared not to fully see it out on that occasion. Mapped got back on track when second over C&D last month and could have more to offer.

Verdict

A smallish field but a tricky finale. MAPPED improved when second over C&D last time and is taken to go one better, but a good case can also be made for Kempton-second Sporting Times, while the others all have claims on the pick of their recent form.
