Some promise second start in bumpers during summer 2017. However, disappointed the following month and another absence to overcome now tackling timber for the first time.

Verdict

MONTANNA won well on his hurdles debut at Ffos Las having been a useful handicapper on the Flat for Jedd O'Keeffe, and he bids to continue the fine record of Peter Bowen at this track with him operating at a 38% strike rate (10-26) over the last five seasons. Court Dreaming built on his hurdles debut behind Champ when returning to the same C&D and getting off the mark at the second attempt over hurdles, while Judge Earle improved from a wind operation to also win here 10 days ago and he should be in the mix.

Verdict

MONTANNA had circumstances in his favour when scoring on hurdles debut at Ffos Las last month, yet that doesn't detract from the fact he remains a good prospect in this sphere with potential for better still, and he is fancied to come out on top. C&D winners Court Dreaming and Judge Earle can also play their part.

Shaped as if retaining ability in first-time cheekpieces after 17 months off when fifth of 12 in handicap chase (14/1) at this C&D (good) 60 days ago but 5 lb out of the weights on this occasion.

Verdict

JASSAS has acquitted himself well in two starts over fences and is just 4lb higher in the ratings than his Uttoxeter success over 2m4f. The way he finished on that occasion suggested he would have no issue with the extra half-mile and he remains unexposed over the larger obstacles. Lotus Pond is respected in his bid for a hat-trick of wins under Rules, while Top Billing can go well back over fences having finished third over hurdles here in May.

Verdict

JASSAS has taken well to fences and can follow up his Uttoxeter success with this extra distance sure to suit. Lotus Pond and Chu Chu Percy are feared most.

Winner over hurdles at Musselburgh in November. Reached frame next 3 starts but quickly back hurdling following a mildly-encouraging chase bow.

Verdict

DOTTIES DILEMA was runner-up at Worcester on his latest start but he is capable of defying a 6lb rise for that effort in what looks an open contest on paper. Hello Fellas has been in solid form lately and went close to winning here two starts ago over 2m4f, while others that warrant consideration include Christmas Twenty, running well both in this sphere and over fences, and Reivers Lodge. She is is better than her effort over C&D last time suggests.

Verdict

HELLO FELLAS possesses the scope to rate quite a bit higher as a hurdler and this looks to be his for the taking against largely out of form or badly-handicapped rivals. Dotties Dilema and Christmas Twenty may do battle for minor honours.

Struggled over fences earlier this year but he does at least arrive on the back of a pair of selling hurdle victories. Switched yards once and he has been given a chance by the assessor.

Verdict

Okotoks won at Hexham last time but that outing wasn't without its jumping misdemeanours, while Old Salt arrives on a hat-trick and makes his stable bow for Stef Keniry. Endless Credit wasn't suited by the unique layout of Cartmel last time, but this can go the way of HONOURABLE GENT. Rose Dobbin's charge is 4-7 over fences and may have improved for his win here three weeks ago, which was his first outing in 14 months.

Verdict

The pair that appeal most are HONOURABLE GENT and Okotoks, preference narrowly for the former on the back of his successful C&D return recently after 14 months off. The latter cannot be dismissed lightly though, with Old Salt possibly best of the remainder.

Verdict

GRAGEELAGH GIRL has some classy form in the book and can remain unbeaten over hurdles for Fergal O'Brien. She landed a double within 15 days at Newton Abbot and Stratford last month and this level of opposition doesn't look much better. Night Manager ran respectably here in a bumper last month and warrants a second look for forecast players, while Placedela Concorde has posted solid win and placed efforts on his last couple of starts.

Verdict

Very hard to see past GRAGEELAGH GIRL who can enhance her yard's excellent record at this venue and complete a hat-trick. Placedela Concorde is clear next best of those with previous experience over timber, while Night Manager offered enough in bumpers to suggest he can figure in a race like this now hurdling.

Verdict

TALKONTHESTREET has picked up minor money over 3m at Hexham the last twice and may be capable of gaining a deserved victory now dropping back in distance. Nefyn Bay has been raised 8lb for scoring over track and trip 10 days ago and is expected to mount another bold bid. The pick of the remainder may be Return Flight, who has dropped back down to his last winning mark and is sporting first-time cheekpieces.

Verdict

TALKONTHESTREET has made a positive start for Richard Fahey and looks capable of winning off his current mark. Nefyn Bay produced a career best over C&D 10 days ago and is next best ahead of last year's winner Tangolan.

Course winner in 2014, but lightly raced under Rules since and offered little all 3 starts back this year for current yard.

Verdict

SENSE OF URGENCY battled on well to score by a neck at Hexham and is expected to mount another bold bid off this 4lb higher mark. Wot A Shot has winning C&D form in the book and remains only 3lb higher than when striking at Musselburgh in December. She can fight it out for the minor money with Green Zone.

Verdict

SENSE OF URGENCY stepped up on her reappearance when winning at Hexham last month, and rates the most solid option in a race where the majority have questions to answer. Green Zone won this corresponding event from 10 lb higher last year and would be dangerous if staging a revival.
