Closely related to fair hurdler Abundantly. Fairly useful but inconsistent on Flat (stays 1¼m). Sold from Mick Channon 7,000 gns in November and no more than each-way claims on hurdles bow.

Verdict

LISP clearly improved for his debut run over hurdles when he was successful over C&D last month. That form was boosted when the second won a handicap off a mark of 124 by seven lengths on Boxing Day and, based on that evidence, this four-year-old will be very hard to beat today. Airtight and Way Out West are players based on their bumper form but they both need to improve upon their respective debuts over hurdles.

Verdict

LISP has taken well to hurdling, and looks set to make it 2 wins from 3 starts in this sphere. Airtight has plenty of scope, and may be the each-way alternative for those searching for a bit of value.

Showed some improvement and landed his first race, albeit an uncompetitive 4-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f) last month. Circumstances unlikely to be so favourable this time.

Verdict

NORPHIN outran odds of 20/1 to win by 13 lengths at Fontwell last month and a 5lb rise for that success should not stop him from going very well once again today. Brother Bennett remains winless since his bumper win back in 2014 but recent efforts of his suggest that he could make the frame this afternoon, while Ulis De Vassy is another to consider following a decent run at Sedgefield on Boxing Day.

Verdict

A tricky event with all runners not easily dismissed. However, YOURHOLIDAYISOVER, although he often flatters to deceive, won this race last year and is on a fair mark for his repeat bid. He could be the answer. Brother Bennett can put up a bold show if reproducing his hurdles form from last time, while What’s Up Rory is likely to benefit from dropping back in trip and could figure.

Irish point winner but yet to show much under Rules for new yard, including well held on handicap debut last month. First-time cheekpieces need to make a big difference.

Verdict

CAMRON DE CHAILLAC has shown improved form in his last couple of appearances and that includes his victory at Taunton a couple of weeks ago. A 4lb raise in the ratings could be described as lenient, especially as he may have more progression left in him. King Uther should be capable of winning races of his current rating, while Clondaw Bisto and Sandhurst Lad are others who merit a place on the shortlist.

Verdict

CAMRON DE CHAILLAC responded well to a visor when off the mark at Taunton last time and a 4 lb rise may not stop him if the headgear continues to have a positive effect. King Uther arrives on the back of a good third at Uttoxeter and is respected for Chris Gordon, while Clondaw Bisto offered more in cheekpieces last time and can figure if building on that.

Dual C&D winner last month and far from disgraced when third in 28.5f Sussex National back here last time. Able to race off correct mark now and she's a big player.

Verdict

THEMANFROM MINELLA was hit with an 8lb rise for his Warwick win where he ground his rivals into submission, however, he may be capable of making light work of that extra burden to follow up against some standing dishes in these attritional staying contests. Morney Wing is one of those regulars who requires plenty of respect, but he somewhat blotted his copybook when refusing last time and comes with a mark of caution now, while Venetia Williams often comes into her own at this time of year and therefore Royal Palladium enters calculations. Course specialist Frank N Fair missed out on the hat-trick last time but could be capable of getting back on track over a slightly reduced trip.

Verdict

FRANK N FAIR has enjoyed a new lease of life of late, losing little caste in defeat when foiled in her hat-trick bid in the Sussex National last time. This is a weaker race and, back down in trip and racing off her correct mark now, the 10-y-o looks the most solid option. Royal Palladium will be a live danger if reproducing the form of his latest effort and Invicta Lake also needs considering.

Verdict

BRIANSTORM has gone well in some competitive contests since racing over hurdles and this looks a nice opening for Warren Greatrex's charge to get off the mark in this sphere. A winner between the flags over three miles, he is sure to appreciate the step up in distance and has Richard Johnson on board for just the second time. Larry is open to improvement for a trainer that does very well here, while Belle Empress needs a market check for the in-form Emma Lavelle.

Verdict

BRIANSTORM very much sets the standard based on his placed efforts in recent months and can come good over hurdles at the third time of asking under Richard Johnson. Jersey Bean is well worth another chance to build on his hurdling debut third, while Larry improved when runner-up over C&D recently and should go well again.

Little in the way of worthwhile form since returning from her lengthy absence.

Verdict

BE DARING returned to his best when just denied at Fontwell a week ago and the seven-year-old looks to be of serious interest here turned out so quickly. He handles this ground well and was arguably unlucky last time out, just being nudged after the last by the eventual winner. Keel Haul has generally been running in better events than this of late and was well backed when a faller at the first on Boxing Day, while the likes of Argyle and Austin Friars need market checks.

Verdict

BE DARING looked ready to strike at Fontwell last week, shaping really well behind the all-the-way winner, and makes plenty of appeal with the red-hot James Bowen up. Astrum looks a big player again, while market support for Austin Friars back from a long absence would be interesting.
