Verdict

KYLLACH ME arrives here in excellent form having won a handicap two starts ago at Thirsk, before following up with a fine effort in defeat at the same track. Despite a 6lb rise for both of those performances, he could yet have more to offer. Cool Strutter is generally consistent and merits consideration now returned to 6f, while Searanger makes some appeal on his previous two efforts at Catterick and completes the shortlist.

Verdict

Backing long-standing maiden CARLOVIAN wouldn't be for everyone, but he's on a basement mark starting out for Mark Walford so it could be now or never. Kyllach Me is very solid at this level, with Cool Strutter completing the shortlist.

Stepped up on debut when third of 6 at Carlisle (5f, heavy) 13 days ago but form nothing special and likely vulnerable to a newcomer unless improving again.

Verdict

This looks a contest where it could pay to concentrate on the newcomers, with preference going to KALAGIA. The daughter of Kodiac is bred for speed, being a full-sister to last year's Norfolk Stakes winner Prince Of Lir, and hails from a stable who can ready their string on debut. Richard Fahey won this race 12 months ago with Rosebride so his La Belle Mayson commands plenty of respect. Corton Lass looks best of the rest.

Verdict

Those with experience don't set the bar that high and there's a good chance newcomers will dominate. KALAGIA is bred to be sharp and gets the nod for the Mark Johnston team but the market will obviously provide more clues, with Rema Al Kuwait and Daffy Jane others who make appeal on paper.

Dual 2-y-o winner at up to this trip. Disappointing at Lingfield last time but no surprise if she bounced back given yard she hails from.

Verdict

Solid win and placed efforts at Musselburgh suggest that EURO NIGHTMARE has improved from two to three years and the Keith Dalgleish-trained filly may prove difficult to beat, despite a further 2lb rise in the ratings. Prying Pandora only found red-hot favourite High Hopes too good at Beverley and she seems sure to give another good account, while Dowayla should step forward from her comeback sixth at Wolverhampton.

Verdict

DOWAYLA returned with a promising effort at Wolverhampton fitted with cheekpieces and has to more to offer, so looks the way to go. The 3-y-os could dominate, with Euro Nightmare looking a big threat ahead of Katebird.

5f Sandown maiden winner for Andrew Balding last year. Good start for new stable when close fourth over 6f here a fortnight ago and has the potential to build on that.

Verdict

DAKOTA GOLD backed up his comfortable Thirsk success with a fine second at Redcar. With a 1lb rise for his latest effort deemed lenient, Michael Dods' charge is fancied to give weight and a beating to these rivals. Night Law is entitled to improve for her comeback fourth over 6f here and makes plenty of appeal while lining up off the same mark of 75. The unexposed Rozy Boys cannot be ruled out either.

Verdict

JACK FLASH, who was presumably unsuited by soft ground at York last month, looked very useful when dominating a small field over C&D the time before and there's a chance he'll be able to likewise from a handy draw near the rail. Dakota Gold looks another progressive sprinter for the Michael Dods team and is the obvious main danger.

Verdict

MARMION has been raised 6lb by the assessor for his course and distance victory last time, however that may not be enough to stop Les Eyre's challenger from hitting the frame once again. Theos Lolly has won over this track and trip in the past off 2lb higher and looks the main danger, while it would be foolish not to give Mark Johnston's Star Of Lombardy a market check and she could also finish on the premises.

Verdict

THEOS LOLLY lurks on a good mark back at the scene of his last success and looks set for a big run after returning to form at Newcastle last time. Marmion landed a gamble over C&D a fortnight ago and has obvious claims if in the same form.

Verdict

David O'Meara has a fine record here and his Don Valentino has done nothing wrong so far and is respected along with Yorkshire Pudding, who was second at 33/1 at Redcar last time. However it is interesting that Marcus Tregoning makes the long journey from his Hampshire base with MOHSEN, his only runner of the evening. The son of Bated Breath represents powerful connections and is one to watch on his first appearance.

Verdict

EQUIANO SPRINGS would have gone closer still but for being hampered on his Pontefract return and is selected to build on that and strike at the fourth time of asking. Don Valentino has got a bit better with each start and may give Tom Tate's charge most to do, though market support for well-bred newcomer Mohsen would put a slightly different slant on things.
