Verdict

DUKE OF HAZZARD outran odds of 25/1 to finish third in the Chesham at Royal Ascot, following two respectable efforts in novice company. The son of Lope De Vega is an exciting prospect and will be hard to beat in a race of this nature. Pogo chased home two high-class rivals on his first couple of starts and will find this easier than the race he contested last time out, which was also at the Royal meeting. Federal Law and Mordred both filled the runner-up position on their debuts and can be expected to go well.

Verdict

Royal Ascot third DUKE OF HAZZARD sets a pretty high standard for a race like this and gets the nod to strike at the fourth time of asking, although Mordred and Federal Law both showed plenty of promise on debut and are likely to ensure Paul Cole's charge doesn't get things all his own way.

Three wins this year. Caught wide when only sixth of 12 at Windsor last time and too soon to suggest the handicapper has taken his measure.

Verdict

BOUNTY PURSUIT was unfortunate to bump into an in-form rival when finishing second over C&D last month and he can go one better in this off the same mark. Danecase has not been beaten far in any of his starts in 2018 and he should be thereabouts once again. The shortlist is completed by Chica De La Noche, Lamya and Vegas Boy.

Verdict

A tight affair in which most can be given a chance. Ed Walker has his team in good form and it may be worth siding with BLACKHEATH who hasn't been seen to best effect the last twice and it's possible the drop back to 6f will suit. The first-time blinkered Buxted Dream, who is well treated on last year's form, Danecase and Lamya head the many dangers.

Verdict

Bedouin's Story and Ambroise are the most appealing of those with experience, with the latter the pick of that pair based on his Windsor run late last month. That said, the level they set is not very high and a chance can be taken on NAWAR. Roger Charlton's colt is a half-brother to Royal Ascot winner Aljazzi and he wouldn't have to be a superstar to get off the mark at the first time of asking.

Verdict

BEDOUIN'S STORY will need to settle better than he did at Newmarket in April, yet he undoubtedly remains with potential for leading connections and he is fancied to be seen to much better effect on this occasion. Nawar is an appealing newcomer for Roger Charlton and he is well worth a second look.

Respectable third of 12 in handicap (7/2) at Kempton (8f) 10 days ago.

Verdict

Zoraya continues to run well in defeat but appears to be in the grip of the assessor, while Letsbe Avenue won nicely at a big price under Silvestre De Sousa at Newbury earlier this month and it is interesting to see them team up again. The vote still goes to the hat-trick seeking ICART POINT, who relished fast ground at Newmarket last time and could prove very dangerous if allowed to dictate matters once more.

Verdict

The scopey ICART POINT is 2 from 2 in handicaps this season and appeals as a useful prospect. He can complete the hat-trick at the main expense of Biotic, who's also bidding for the 3-timer.

Verdict

Groveman warrants plenty of respect following his comfortable victory over 1m2f at Bath, and Eden Rose merits consideration with her sights lowered for last year's winning stable. However, preference is for top-weight RECKLESS WAVE, who takes a significant drop in grade after contesting class 3 handicaps on her last couple of starts, and her form at this sort of level earlier in the year was rock-solid.

Verdict

GROVEMAN confirmed previous promise when opening his account at Bath 10 days ago and, whilst this looks a stronger contest, he is fancied to go in again now he's up and running. Cheeky Rascal and Golden Image are also worth a second look.

Promising sort. 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, very good second of 8 in handicap at Bath (10.2f, firm) 10 days ago. Hard to beat.

Verdict

PERFECT REFUGE has shown glimmers of promise on her three starts so far in novice company and she is fully expected to improve for the step up to 1m2f as a daughter of Champs Elysees. Player's Luck is another open to progression now making his handicap debut for a leading yard, with Fannie By Gaslight completing the shortlist with more to offer.

Verdict

FERRIER improved in first-time cheekpieces when runner-up at Bath 10 days ago and can go one place better with further progress forthcoming. The other potential improver is Player's Luck and he's feared most on handicap debut.

2 wins from 3 runs this year. 15/8, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Wetherby (8f, good to firm) 22 days ago, always holding on. Up in trip.

Verdict

SAVAANAH has finally come right with two recent successes at Ripon and Wetherby, both of those over a mile, and she looks likely to take a further step forward for the extra couple of furlongs. Arcadian Cat has some useful form to boast and a return to handicap company can see her in a better light, but last week's Newbury winner Caravela could struggle attempting to give weight to the three-year-olds.

Verdict

SAVAANAH took another leap forward when making a winning handicap debut at Wetherby and can outspeed her rivals in what may turn out to be a tactical affair. Caravela is feared most.
