30,000 gns Kodiac half-sister to 9.5f-1½m winner Fit The Bill and useful 1½m winner Cape Peninsular. Newcomer from a leading stable. Market support would look significant.

Verdict

DARK SHADOW can be forgiven his debut effort at Ascot when restless in the stalls and he can only improve from that experience with Clive Cox having had a good start to the year with his juveniles. Oberyn Martell shaped well on his debut when runner-up behind Victory Command at Doncaster and he can take a step forward from that here along with Good Luck Fox, who showed good speed on soft ground over 6f at Goodwood and is bred to be much better on faster ground.

Verdict

The fact DARK SHADOW was prominent in the betting in a decent race at Ascot on debut suggests he's well regarded and it would be no surprise were he to leave that bare form well behind now. Doncaster runner-up Oberyn Martell rates an obvious danger, while market support for the Roger Varian newcomer Thriving would also see her enter the reckoning.

Verdict

EAGLE HUNTER showed good promise on debut when second behind Dubai Legacy at Doncaster and this extra yardage looks likely to suit on pedigree with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle. Happy Power ran encouragingly at Newbury when putting in his best work at the finish over 6f and he merits respect on that performance. Others to note include newcomers Sky Cross and Kenzohope, who can both make an impact.

Verdict

EAGLE HUNTER created a good impression on debut at Doncaster 2 weeks ago, and is the one they all have to beat. There are a number of interesting ones in opposition however, including Julius Limbani and newcomer Sky Cross.

Verdict

BRIGAND was disappointing when down the field at Wolverhampton on his most recent start back in December but the son of Dick Turpin is better judged on his first two outings which included a win at Chelmsford. The step up to 7f should pose no issue. Warsaan went up 4lb for winning a Newmarket handicap last month and is respected off his new mark, while Cosmopolitan Queen has the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle having won at Lingfield last time.

Verdict

CHARACTER WITNESS caught the eye when third at Kempton last week and looks more than capable of winning off this mark. Warsaan is respected as a last-time-out winner, while Brigand can't have been right when last seen in December and rates a potential improver now handicapping for his leading stable.

Quirky sort who should come on for his reappearance at Windsor but had plenty of chances from this sort of mark last year.

Verdict

ACLIMATISE is two wins from his last three following his win at Newmarket last weekend and a 6lb penalty leaves him 3lb well-in at the weights. He can add to that tally here with Ryan Moore staying in the plate. Emenem ran his usual solid race last time and should be thereabouts, while the consistent Tom's Rock is interesting on his return to turf and Derek Duval also makes the shortlist.

Verdict

ACLIMATISE is the only one in this field with a progressive profile and, despite a 6 lb penalty for his Newmarket success last week, it's hard to see any of the others really troubling him once he hits top stride (finds plenty). Turnpike Trip is one that could get back on the up with his reappearance under his belt and it's too soon to write off Pivoine.

Had a bit in hand when landing an ordinary 4-runner minor race on the AW in April. Better form when second at Chepstow last month but opening mark hit as a result.

Verdict

Clive Cox's Autumn Leaves is interesting on her handicap debut following some decent two-year-old performances. However, PREENING could have a fitness edge on this occasion having ran with credit when second at Thirsk on her seasonal bow. The Cheveley Park filly is already a winner at the distance having scored at Kempton in the autumn and the booking of Ryan Moore is a big positive. Chepstow second Golden Iris can't be dismissed following a solid run behind a useful winner, while Zoraya and Daybreak are others to note.

Verdict

PREENING had little chance with a smart prospect at Thirsk last month, but she enhanced her reputation in defeat given she was well clear of the rest and the assessor looks to have underestimated her. Daybreak left her 2-y-o form behind at Goodwood recently and is feared most, though Autumn Leaves boasts potential.

Mid-field in a couple of warm maidens at Newbury this spring at up to 11f. Gives the strong impression that he has a much bigger performance in him.

Verdict

BERINGER followed up his Newmarket second with a two-length success at Leicester earlier this month, a result which leaves Alan Kings' Sea The Stars gelding 1lb well-in racing under a 6lb penalty. He can follow up here at the expense of Nottingham winner Hyanna, who makes her first start for Eve Johnson Houghton from a 6lb higher mark, and Godolphin's Returning Glory, who has been somewhat disappointing on his last two starts but has been gelded recently and remains with potential.

Verdict

KABRIT gets his mark on the bare form of his qualifying runs, but he contested a couple of high-end maidens at Newbury this spring and showed plenty to work on, so he looks ready to take a big step forward. Stamina is Hyanna's strength and she should have more to offer for her new yard, with Leicester winner Beringer also feared.

Modest maiden who appears to have returned out of sorts and makes no appeal here.

Verdict

DAGUENEAU is up 4lb for his Nottingham victory, but Ed Dunlop's Champs Elysees gelding, who has thrived since going handicapping this season, is backed to follow up having looked strong at the distance last time. Eyecatcher was also strong at the distance (extended 1m3f) when running on well to be beaten just a nose at Haydock latest and Ryan Moore in the saddle is a positive, while Kittileo and Beverley winner Mythological are others to note.

Verdict

EYECATCHER only found another improver too good at Haydock last time, all the while shaping as if a step up to this trip would bring even more out of him, so he's a confident choice to get off the mark at the expense of last-time-out winner Dagueneau, with Kittileo the pick of the remainder.
