Cemented sound start to season when landing handicap at Leicester in January, but was found out under a 7 lb penalty back there a week later.

Verdict

Plumpton regular PADDY'S POEM has the assistance of leading conditional Bryony Frost as he looks to build on his recent consistent form to land a first victory over hurdles. Richard Patrick has struck up a great relationship with Kerry Lee this season and they can play a part here with the ageing Gassin Golf, who continues to slip down the weights. Similar sentiments apply to course and distance winner Chieftain's Choice, while James Bowen is an eye-catching jockey booking aboard Georgieshore and the Leicester winner can't be ruled out from the foot of the handicap.

Verdict

Useful Flat performer SUBCONTINENT is sure to benefit from this return to 2m and could well take advantage of a potentially lenient opening mark. Last year's winner Chieftain's Choice is entitled to strip fitter for his recent outing, while Gassin Golf should have a class edge on most of these now dropping into 0-120 company.

Lurks on a very dangerous mark nowadays and took a step back in the right direction when fifth at Cheltenham (15.9f) in November. Unable to build on that at Ascot since, however.

Verdict

Donald McCain has to be respected when he brings the horsebox south and his UBALTIQUE still looks fairly treated as the 10-year-old bids to land a hat-trick of chase wins in this. Tara Bridge routed his rivals when 13-lengths clear last time and has to be given serious respect off a 7lb higher mark, while Movie Legend can finish ahead of Un Beau Roman in the scrap for the minor honours.

Verdict

TARA BRIDGE is low mileage for a 10-y-o and duly confirmed the promise of his hurdles return second when running out a comfortable winner over fences at Lingfield last month. He is fancied to defy a 7 lb rise, though hat-trick seeking Ubaltique is fancied to give him plenty to think about.

Verdict

Not a great deal separates a host of these but the penny has really dropped with MELANGERIE now and she made it two wins on the bounce with a stylish success at Ludlow last month. She looks to be a very smart mare in the making and can take another step up the ladder this afternoon. If You Say Run was no match for the high-class Maria's Benefit at Taunton but still boasts a smart level of form, while others worth considering closely are recent Newbury scorer All Currencies and Midnight Tune.

Verdict

MELANGERIE boasts a progressive profile and produced a fairly-useful performance when scoring for the second time over hurdles at Ludlow last month. This longer trip promises to suit and she is taken to score again. All Currencies and Midnight Tune head the list of dangers in a race where plenty hold solid claims.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT MONTY has been knocking on the door of late, including when runner-up over the extended 2m5f at Market Rasen on his first start for Jamie Snowden last month, and is expected to improve for this step back in trip under who rider who lifted this cup in 2014 on Savant Bleu. Last year's winner Rathlin Rose is the one expected to put up most resistance, with the same pilot returning in the plate. The pick of the remainder may be recent Plumpton scorer Leo Luna.

Verdict

RATHLIN ROSE took this event last year before winning the Grand Military Gold Cup the following month, and has shown enough over longer trips this season to suggest he retains all his ability. He is fancied to land the prize again. Orbasa and Leo Luna may be the principal dangers.

Verdict

There was a strong word for ET MOI ALORS in the build-up to his debut at Ascot and he would have almost certainly have won but for a heavy last-flight fall. Running second that day, when brought down by the selection, was Harmonise and he gave the form a strong look when winning at Plumpton on Monday. Gary Moore's charge looks an exciting prospect going forward and, receiving the weight-for-age allowance, he should have too much up his sleeve for Notre Ami and Mister Malarky.

Verdict

ET MOI ALORS hails from a yard with a strong team of juveniles and looked set to score in some style before coming to grief at the last at Ascot in January. He looks sure to progress and is fancied to gain compensation now. Notre Ami may give him most to think about.

Verdict

Aubusson is well handicapped off 135 on the pick of his hurdles form and arrives here on the back of a decent effort at Ludlow. He is noted, as is Aloomomo, Lithic and Step Back, but MUCKLE ROE gets the nod here and is expected to build on his Warwick success last May. He boasts a decent record when fresh and is only 9lb higher than when winning at the Midlands venue by some 27 lengths.

Verdict

STEP BACK shaped very well on his chase debut when beaten only by a race-fit rival at Chepstow two weeks ago, and he’s sure to improve and win races over fences (enters handicaps on lenient-looking mark). Aubusson holds each-way claims with a repeat, while Lithic may be capable of making an impact if staying this longer trip.

Minor promise initially over hurdles but handed a stiff opening mark and well held last of 5 on Fontwell handicap debut last month.

Verdict

HEREWEGO HEREWEGO gets into this handicap off a mark of 122, some 12lb well in, and was the horse to take out of the race at Market Rasen 10 days ago. This improving gelding was sticking on well at the finish when upped to an extended 2m4f for the first time and, on his handicap debut, should go very close. Broken Quest is also well in at the weights and rates the main danger on a hat-trick, while Snapdragon Fire can also get involved.

Verdict

BROKEN QUEST made light of a 7 lb rise for his Huntingdon victory when scoring with any amount to spare at Kempton last week and, wisely turned out under a penalty, he should prove a tough nut to crack in his pursuit to land the hat-trick. Herewego Herewego looks on a handy mark for his respective handicap debut and is feared most, ahead of Snapdragon Fire.
