Thrice-raced maiden. 33/1, last of 9 in minor event at Kempton (6f). Off 92 days. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Makes handicap debut, difficult to recommend.

Verdict

GOOD IMPRESSION posted a career-best effort when beaten by under a length into second over 6f here last time and promises to be suited by this longer trip as he bids to defy a 3lb rise this afternoon. Istanbul Pasha made all to win over 6f at Kempton last time and needs to prove he stays this longer trip, though he has place possibilities if he gets home. Recent Wolverhampton third Ray Purchase, who sports a first-time visor, may emerge as the main danger to the selection.

Verdict

GOOD IMPRESSION earns the vote as he was putting in his best work at the finish when runner-up on handicap/all-weather debut at this course last month, and is likely to stay 7f on that evidence. Istanbul Pasha has obvious claims if he’s able to reproduce his Kempton win on fibresand, while Ray Purchase appears best of the remainder.

Twice-raced maiden. 3/1, fourth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 57 days ago, finding less than looked likely.

Verdict

KRIPKE shaped with an abundance of promise when third on debut at Doncaster and should be all the wiser for the experience gained. Blacklooks registered a come-from-behind victory on Tapeta at Wolverhampton last time but needs to demonstrate his effectiveness on this slower surface, as well as conceding weight under a penalty. Angel's Whisper, who has been outpaced on all three outings in sprints, is worth a market check now stepped up in trip, as is Simon Crisford representative Wazin.

Verdict

KRIPKE did well to finish as close as he did on debut at Doncaster given how green he was early and he's capable of winning a maiden such as this if handling fibresand. Wazin is second choice on form, though market support for Lord Oberon would look significant given he's bred to be useful.

Successful twice over C&D in December. Run of good form came to a halt at Newcastle last time but much better expected back at this venue.

Verdict

Rosina appeared to win a shade cosily over this trip at Newcastle earlier in the month and is expected to go close off a revised mark of 87, though there are a couple of C&D winners who shade preference on this slower surface. RAZIN' HELL suffered a head defeat at the hands of Tilly Trotter here in December and went down by a neck here last time. He's 2lb below his last winning mark and taken to notch a deserved victory for John Balding. The return to Fibresand could also see Pearl Acclaim leave behind a wayward effort at Newcastle.

Verdict

ROSINA has looked a progressive sprinter on AW in recent weeks and can complete a hat-trick if taking to fibresand at the first time of asking. Razin Hell' and Pearl Acclaim have good records here and could be the pair to give Ann Duffield's mare most to do.

One win from 22 Flat runs. 9/2, didn't need to improve to win 5-runner handicap at this C&D 5 days ago, always holding on. Carries penalty but vulnerable in this deeper race.

Verdict

Epitaph kept on well in the finish when scoring by half a length over track and trip latest and should remain under a penalty, though narrow preference is for SNOWY WINTER, who dotted up over C&D latest and is expected to overcome a 9lb rise to go in again for the shrewd Archie Watson. Starplex and L'inganno Felice are worth market checks now returning from absences, particularly the latter, who has solid Fibresand form already in the book.

Verdict

SNOWY WINTER looked an absolute natural on her first go on fibresand when routing her field over C&D last month, and may well be up to defying a significant hike in the weights. Kensington Star and Starplex head the dangers for Keith Dalgleish.

Verdict

Recent Southwell scorers Declamation and Meandmyshadow both did it well here earlier this month, though both lack scope for improvement and the former especially could be found out off his revised mark. Joey's Destiny returned to form when second at Wolverhampton six days ago, but this can go the way of SPUN GOLD, who relished a first try at Fibresand last time out. The four-year-old never looked like getting caught, and shouldn't mind this drop in distance.

Verdict

DECLAMATION has taken very well to this surface and will surely make a bold bid for the hat-trick. Spun Gold also looked a natural on fibresand when finally off the mark over 1m here last month and looks the obvious threat.

Verdict

MR COCO BEAN did it well here earlier this month when well supported in the betting and looks to have more to offer on this surface. A 5lb rise doesn't look too harsh considering the ease of that victory, and the four-year-old can claim the spoils again. Chaucer's Tale is nicely drawn and has been in excellent form on the all-weather in recent weeks, while Break The Silence and Sea Of Hope look open to most improvement of the rest.

Verdict

MR COCO BEAN has made a good start for this yard, doing well to overcome a slow start over C&D 2 weeks ago, and needs keeping onside for the time being. Chaucer's Tale continues to run well and should have more races in him, while 4-time C&D winner Shearian took a step back in the right direction last time.
