Below form seventh of 14 in handicap (4/1) at Redcar (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago.

Verdict

Ayr regular STRONG STEPS was beaten less than a length when second last week and with his mark having dropped a further 2lb to 7lb lower than his last winning mark, he looks the one to beat here for his Scottish handler. A tongue-tie accompanies the usual cheekpieces aboard Toofi having not been disgraced in a competitive York contest last month, while Catterick second Zebulon and Nuns Walk are others to note.

Verdict

STRONG STEPS needs everything to go his way, but is undoubtedly on a good mark and could be set to open his account for the year. Zebulon looks a winner in waiting for Ruth Carr after a good second at Catterick, while Start Time may yet pick up another race.

Verdict

FORCETORECKON was much improved when second at Pontefract last time and despite being no match for the winner that day, she should have plenty more to come now in a nursery. House Deposit wasn't disgraced in a similar contest when fourth at Nottingham and could have more to come now dropped a further 2lb in the ratings, while One Kiss and Double Quick look certain to be thereabouts in the final furlong.

Verdict

ANNIE'S CROOK showed more here last time and looks sure to be suited by this longer trip. She gets the nod in a wide-open nursery. Forcetoreckon and One Kiss are other key players.

Verdict

GOOD LOOKER looks the pick of Tony Coyle's duo having shown improvement when third last time at Pontefract, and the return to seven furlongs could have lots more to come having been doing his best work at the end that day. Michael Dods won this last season and saddles two, the newcomer Bumbledon and Dancin Boy, who will have appreciated the experience of his Redcar debut, while any market support for debutants Suspiciously and Separable should be noted.

Verdict

FREED FROM DESIRE upped her game when third at Redcar last time and sets the standard on that form. She looks ready for a crack at this longer trip and is taken to resume winning ways if taking up this engagement. Stronsay has proved consistent thus far and is likely to give another good account, whilst Separable and Suspiciously look the pick of the newcomers.

95,000 gns yearling, Teofilo filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including very smart 1¼m-1½m winner Universal and 9f-10.4f winner Windward Passage. Dam ran once. Market check advised on debut.

95,000 gns yearling, Teofilo filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including very smart 1¼m-1½m winner Universal and 9f-10.4f winner Windward Passage. Dam ran once. Market check advised on debut.

Verdict

ALEXANA showed a great attitude when winning on debut in a decent-looking maiden at Lingfield and this well-bred filly, from the family of stout stayers Duncan, Samuel, and Gretchen, can continue her progression through the ranks. French Heroine was fourth in a good novice contest at Doncaster behind the promising Willie John and is respected, along with newcomer Just Wait, a half-sister to Group 2 winner Universal.

Verdict

ALEXANA justified strong support when making a winning racecourse bow at Lingfield last month and looks sure to improve. She can follow up here. Inpromptu could have more to give over this longer trip and looks the obvious danger.

Quirky sort. Twenty two runs since last win in 2017. Eighth of 12 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to firm, 40/1) 3 days ago.

Verdict

MELANIEMILLIE showed signs of a return to form when third in a Redcar handicap at the start of the month. She was dropped 1lb for that effort and Ruth Carr's filly can get back to winning ways. Guardia Svizzera ran well when finishing in the frame at Catterick last month and he is respected along with Pavers Pride, who can return to form having disappointed at Catterick last Tuesday and is better judged on his second the time before at Musselburgh.

Verdict

MELANIEMILLIE has run plenty of good races at Thirsk and is taken to end a losing run off a lenient mark. Guardia Svizzera and Peachey Carnehan are feared.

Verdict

RAAQYAH travelled strongly over 1m2f on her handicap debut at Doncaster but she didn't seem to get home over the trip and crossed the line in fourth. Improvement could be on the cards now she's dropping back to a mile. Four-time 7f winner Queens Royale is unexposed over a mile and could feasibly play a supporting role now stepped up in trip, while penalised Catterick scorer Twilight and the consistent Plansina are others to note.

Verdict

The promising RAAQYAH will be suited by this drop back in trip and she can get off the mark. Queens Royale is feared most ahead of Plansina.

Tenth of 12 in handicap (25/1) at Beverley (12.1f, good to soft) 14 days ago.

Verdict

Sunhill Lad could feasibly step up on his latest effort over 1m6f at Redcar now cutting back in trip and fitted with first-time cheekpieces, though narrow preference is for KITTY'S COVE, who is a potential improver off a mark of 48 on her handicap debut. Tim Easterby's High Chaparral filly is closely related to 1m4f winner Forced Family Fun. A stiffer test of stamina may also suit Handsome Bob, who steps up beyond 1m2f for the first time.

Verdict

All of these are yet to win a race and SUNHILL LAD could be the one to open his account as he's left the impression he might be building up to a bigger effort in 2 runs back on turf after 4 months off. Kitty's Cove starts out in handicaps in a very winnable event and might yet take a step forward.
