Big prices and has merely hinted at promise so far, midfield in a 19f Fontwell handicap in December. Is still relatively low-mileage at least.

Verdict

Dan Skelton runs two here and it is interesting that brother Harry chooses Gi Jayne after a wind operation. Cafe Au Lait has some consistent form in the book and shouldn't be far away once more, while Goodnight Charlie could bounce back after a modest run here last time. However, it could be worth chancing SCARTARE, who has gone well the last twice and remains on a low mark. These conditions suit and this isn't a great contest.

Verdict

CAFE AU LAIT has made a sound start for Dan Skelton, again filling the runner-up spot over C&D last time. With his rider claiming his subsequent weight rise, he looks a solid proposition to make a bold bid again. Goodnight Charlie ought to strip fitter for her recent return spin and along with Scartare heads the dangers. Gi Jayne warrants close market scrutiny however, having had a wind operation.

Others have achieved more and looks set for another struggle from out of the weights.

Verdict

CEANN SIBHEAL ran away with it at Uttoxeter for Warren Greatrex four days ago and the nine-year-old has to be of interest under a 7lb penalty here before the handicapper has his say. Ground like this seems to bring out the best in him and the addition of Tom Greatrex with his 7lb claim to the saddle looks a shrewd move by connections. Grand Introduction has a similar profile but does have to move up in grade, while Oneida Tribe wears first-time blinkers after being demoted to second at Bangor last month.

Verdict

The way GRAND INTRODUCTION saw out his race over C&D last week suggests he’s one to keep on side under a penalty. Ceann Sibheal (also carrying a penalty) holds major claims if the headgear continues to have the desired effect, while Oneida Tribe is slowly getting the hangs of things and may yet do better.

Newbury mares' novice winner in January 2017. Hasn't built on that as expected since, often too free, but has Richard Johnson back in the saddle.

Verdict

BRAVENTARA didn't have much luck during 2017, falling on both appearances, but she made a promising seasonal/handicap debut at Bangor last month and can now begin to make up for lost time. Richard Mitford-Slade has already enjoyed plenty of success with his NH runners (better known as a point-to-point trainer) and he saddles an interesting mare in Dark Aster. She improved from Bangor to Warwick and warrants respect on her first foray into handicap company, while Midnight Glory also has a squeak.

Verdict

DARK ASTER makes a quick switch to handicaps following a brace of in-frame efforts in novice company, and she should relish this step up in trip, so has a lot in her favour representing a small yard in good order. Braventara made a pleasing stable debut recently and is feared most, though Richard Johnson could be the man to get Midnight Glory to settle.

Half-brother to useful bumper winner Monbeg Worldwide. Showed ability despite not being seen to best effect when seventh of 14 in a bumper at Huntingdon last month. May do better now hurdling.

Verdict

This looks a match between Delire D'estruval and HAREFIELD. The former is rated 3lb superior and should benefit from dropping back in trip, but Alan King's charge might well have supplemented his Warwick success at Plumpton but for a last-flight fall (only one length down at the time) and could make amends with a clear round. Rebel Royal wasn't disgraced in a bumper at Huntingdon on debut and holds each-way claims on his first start over timber, while North West Wind also has place credentials.

Verdict

HAREFIELD’s earlier form reads well and he’s worth another chance to get back on the up. Delire d'Estruval has to be respected despite looking short on end product at Plumpton last time, while Rebel Royal is in good hands and may do better now hurdling.

On a handy mark nowadays and very much caught the eye at Chepstow last time, finished with running left, not given anything like a hard time. One to note.

Verdict

HOW'S MY FRIEND was an impressive six-length winner over two furlongs further here last time and Grant Cann's veteran can roll back the years once again today. Johnny Farrelly saddles two with chances in Finish The Story and Black Franks Angel, while Jennie Candlish's consistent Spirit Of Hale has to be considered having only been a neck away at Catterick last time and remains well treated here.

Verdict

BADILOU very much caught the eye when third at Chepstow (left with too much to do) and he looks capable of winning off his current mark. Spirit of Hale is getting the hang of things over fences and is the clear main threat having gone close at Catterick 3 weeks ago.

£34,000 buy after finishing runner-up on the second of 2 starts in Irish points in December. In good hands.

Verdict

David Pipe's point winner KNOW THE SCORE cost 380,000 pounds in November and he has the chance to prove his worth her on his Rules debut for the Pond House handler. He beat Senor Citizen by six length in that outing between the flags and he has the chance to confirm the form here with that rival making his bumper bow for Alan King. Brascoe and Supremely Lucky are others to have gone well in the pointing field and are considered.

Verdict

Six very successful NH yards are represented, but KNOW THE SCORE must have created a deep impression when landing a point given connections went to £380,000 to acquire him, so he is the call before market clues. Brascoe, Senior Citizen and Supremely Lucky start out in bumpers having found one too good between the flags.
