Verdict

Jimmy Fox and Megan Nicholls linked up to take this with WILD FLOWER last season, and it is interesting that they join forces once again as the mare looks to defend her crown off the same mark following a useful tune-up run at Brighton last month. Course and distance winner Flowing Clarets has been running well of late and has to be respected back on turf, while Violet's Lads is just 1lb higher than when knocking on the door at Lingfield last time.

Verdict

FLOWING CLARETS, Violet's Lads and Wild Flower are all pretty consistent at this level and are preferred in that order as the first-named runner was a ready winner at this track from just 2 lb higher last autumn.

Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 7 in minor event at this C&D (good, 80/1) 14 days ago.

Verdict

SHORTER SKIRT has knocked on the door on both her outings so far, and Eve Johnson Houghton's Showcasing youngster could make it third time lucky on her first turf outing. 160,000 guineas purchase Aim Power is entitled to build on her Goodwood debut for a top team, while her stablemate Laoise and Archie Watson's Petits Fours could be the best of the newcomers on show.

Verdict

SHORTER SKIRT showed plenty to work on when runner-up in a brace of 6f novice races on the AW last month, and with further improvement on the cards, she ought to take some stopping. Aim Power will know more this time, while Petits Fours is a likely newcomer on paper.

Verdict

Rod Milman's GREELEY has impressed over seven furlongs the last twice and holds leading claims of landing a quick hat-trick here if proving just as effective up at a mile. Royal Big Night looked a typical Mark Johnston two-year-old when battling to victory at Epsom last time and has to be respected, while Chester winner Revich wasn't too far away at Goodwood in a competitive nursery on his latest start and is worth another chance off his current mark.

Verdict

ROYAL BIG NIGHT continued his record of run-to-run improvement when opening his account at Epsom recently and, with further progress likely, he is taken to follow up on this nursery debut. The soft ground may have been to blame for Dombra's below-par display behind Greeley at Newmarket and Hugo Palmer's charge may well reverse the placings with that rival under these conditions.

8/1, creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at Goodwood (9.9f, good) 11 days ago. Now 1 lb lower and in calmer waters, he's every inch a leading contender.

Verdict

The lightly-raced Dubawi colt MIDNIGHT MEETING has impressed when winning the last twice and should be capable of extending that victorious run off what could be a lenient opening handicap mark. Noble Gift was much improved at Kempton last time and could prove to be the main challenger switching back to turf, while Lingfield winner Man Of Harlech has to be respected stepping back up in trip.

Verdict

The vote goes to BATHSHEBA BAY, who wasn't disgraced in a competitive Glorious Goodwood handicap 11 days ago and faces a less taxing assignment here. Unexposed Godolphin colt Midnight Meeting is armed with potential ahead of this handicap debut and has to be feared. However, he's likely to be plenty short enough in the betting and Contango may be the one to mount the biggest challenge.

Verdict

SHOW OF FORCE beat consistent subsequent winner Branscombe by two-and-a-half lengths when successful at Chepstow last time and with handy course form to his name from his two runs before that, he is backed to take the 5lb rise in his stride to follow up. Sicario scored over this distance at Ffos Las and wasn't beaten far off his revised mark at Wolverhampton last time with Jamie Osborne's gelding a must for the shortlist, while Sky Rocket and Atomic Jack both threatened when last seen and could get involved once again.

Verdict

With improvement on the cards now that he's pitched into a handicap, BUCKLAND BOY could be the answer. He stepped up on his low-key debut when fifth in a big-field novice event here in May and shaped better than the bare result at Kempton next time. Sicario has raised his game since going up in trip and looks dangerous, while C&D winner Couldn't Could She is also on the shortlist.

Leicester debut wasn't devoid of promise but well held at Lingfield on Saturday night.

Verdict

The twice raced DUBAI SILK looked a useful filly when making all over course and distance to score on her second outing in May, and having shown plenty of speed that day it would be no surprise to see her successful under similar tactics here. Indian Tygress was successful at Doncaster on her debut in the spring and despite letting down favourite backers next time, could easily bounce back dropping in trip. Resolution has improvement to find in order to figure, so a market check on Clive Cox's newcomer Maid Of Spirit may provide an alternative angle into this contest.

Verdict

It was disappointing to see INDIAN TYGRESS turned over on the AW last month, given how promising she looked when making a winning debut at Doncaster. However, she remains open to improvement and is preferred to Dubai Silk, who lowered the colours of some decent types over C&D in May. The market should be revealing with regard to the prospects of newcomers Poyle George Two and Maid of Spirit.
