Came comfortably clear from a consistent sort to land the Sussex Champion Hurdle at Plumpton in April and appears as the type to make a chaser. Highly respected.

Verdict

An interesting novice contest to kick off proceedings with Paul Nicholls' Sussex Champion Hurdle winner Tommy Silver kicking off his chasing career, expected to eclipse the levels he produced over the smaller objects. Another slow burning project is OPTIMUS PRIME, and the five-year-old should be much fitter for his outing at Kempton recently. Dan Skelton has taken his time with the Deportivo gelding and he ran the highly regarded King's Socks to within a length and a half when chasing in France which offers enthusiasm he could take to his new challenge here. Behind Time is another who is enters consideration and a flatter track could help him out here.

Verdict

TOMMY SILVER came comfortably clear from a consistent sort to land the Sussex Champion Hurdle at Plumpton in April, and he appears the type to make a smart chaser. Optimus Prime has already had experience of jumping the larger obstacles in France and has to be respected, while Behind Time should strip fitter for his recent run.

Dual handicap chase winner earlier in the year and made a sound return to action when 17 lengths second over C&D last month. Likely to be sharper with that behind her and respected.

Verdict

PERFECT TIMING landed a hat-trick when last seen and he looks a horse who could still have plenty of progression to come despite being a further 8lb higher in the handicap now. Rolling Dylan was well fancied here on his seasonal bow when faltering into fifth, but the stable is in much better form now. Red Hanrahan and Song Saa are two others for consideration.

Verdict

LITTLE JON is hardly one for maximum faith given his tendency to clout the odd fence but he starts the new season on a good mark and might be worth chancing for a stable which has been among the winners. Song Saa should strip fitter for last month's C&D reappearance and may provide the main threat ahead of Kerry Lee's Town Parks.

Verdict

ONEFORTHEROADTOM claimed the scalp of the highly touted bumper performer Lalor at Exeter last time and the form of that race was franked at the weekend when the third landed a hot Wincanton novice event. He looks a useful performer in the making and can score again despite the penalty here. Some Man is related to Denman and makes his first Rules appearance representing Ditcheat's Paul Nicholls. He looks a leading prospect and should make sure for an intriguing contest here, while Jonjo O'Neill's pair Ready And Able and Head Lad could be capable of picking up the minor money.

Verdict

ONEFORTHEROADTOM looked a potentially useful novice hurdler when opening his account at the first time of asking at Exeter recently, and he is fancied to follow up under a penalty. Some Man makes plenty of appeal on paper for leading connections and market support would look significant, while Pulp Fiction showed plenty of ability on his debut in a Cheltenham bumper last term.

Verdict

ARTHUR'S GIFT was only beaten two lengths last time over course and distance and a 6lb rise is negated by stable conditional Tom Humphries taking over in the saddle today to remover 7lb. Craig Star will be suited by the return to further and is a player if producing a clear round, while Degooch is entitled to finish closer than on his latest outing, returned to the smaller obstacles off a 10lb lower mark.

Verdict

ARTHUR'S GIFT ran really well when second in a C&D Class 2 last month and even a 6 lb rise may not prevent him going one better this time. Degooch is a potentially interesting opponent back hurdling, while Stonemadforspeed has been a revelation of late and should figure again if over his exertions at Uttoxeter only 11 days ago.

Verdict

BLAZON ran his best race so far over timber when runner-up at Stratford on his latest outing and looks fairly handicapped running off a mark of 112 for the first time. Flemcara should prove capable of improvement now switching his attention to handicaps, while Rainy Day Dylan has shown glimmers of promise in maiden hurdles and is one worthy of a market check.

Verdict

RAINY DAY DYLAN is yet to match his fairly useful bumper form over hurdles, but he remains with plenty of potential now switched to handicaps. Burrows Lane wasn’t seen to best effect making handicap debut last time, however is well worth another chance given his novice form in the summer, while Camron de Chaillac is better judged on his previous effort and isn’t ruled out.

Verdict

GREEN OR BLACK was a beaten odds-on favourite at Newton Abbot last time out but he bumped into a useful rival on that occasion. The switch to handicaps should help this five-year-old and an opening mark of 109 should be workable. The ground may have been an excuse for Hint Of Grey last time out, while Ginger Fizz should be in the mix based on her most recent effort.

Verdict

A leap of faith is required in supporting HINT OF GREY, yet she wasn't seen to anything like best effect off a steady gallop at Carlisle on her most recent outing and, with a very capable 7 lb claimer taking over in the saddle, she could be worth chancing. Handicap-debutantes Green Or Black and David's Phoebe can emerge as the chief threats.
