Two wins from 3 starts on the AW for David Simcock at the start of year and produced a massive career best when fourth in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup last month. Has to now back that up.

Verdict

An extremely competitive renewal of this Listed race and there is likely to be a blistering early pace with A Momentofmadness, Alpha Delphini, El Astronaute and Take Cover in the field. With that in mind, the preference is for STONE OF DESTINY, who arrives here having finished fourth in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last time out. The drop in trip is a slight concern but a fast pace could set it up for a finisher and the fact that he stays 6f should help. Mr Lupton and Muthmir are others who should be suited by how this race is likely to be run.

Verdict

TAKE COVER has been a remarkable servant for connections, kick-starting another fine season with a win in this race 12 months ago and he should be spot on for this defence. Muthmir and Alpha Delphini are closely matched on Haydock form, but perhaps the biggest threat will come from 3-y-o Stone of Destiny.

Holding his form well without winning this season, sixth in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle 2 weeks ago. Should give another good account.

Verdict

DAL HARRAILD is the class act in this contest after being deemed good enough to run in a Group 2 at Meydan last time out, and can defy a 105-day absence to score here for Yorkshire-born trainer William Haggas. The five-year-old has C&D-winning form and can account for Dylan Mouth, who ran better at Newmarket last time but still not quite at his optimum, and Scotland, who outran lofty odds in the Ascot Gold Cup three weeks ago.

Verdict

DAL HARRAILD looks a level above his opponents on his best form and should prove hard to beat back form a break. Dylan Mouth is next best ahead of Time To Study.

Took a big leap forward when landing a C&D handicap a fortnight ago. Just failed to follow up at Ayr on Monday so he's clearly in good order. 1 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

BLESS HIM could be ready to peak on his third run of the year and wasn't disgraced in the Royal Hunt Cup last time, finishing third in the far side group. Baraweez returned to winning ways at Chester and has won off a 1lb higher mark in Ireland in the past. Course winner Get Knotted posted another gallant effort in defeat latest and should similarly go close, while Wadilsafa commands the utmost respect now dropped in both trip and grade.

Verdict

WADILSAFA was probably found wanting for know-how pitched into a Group 3 on third career start at Royal Ascot last month, but his potential at this level is there for all to see, and in receipt of weight-for-age, the case for him is a compelling one. Bless Him and Third Time Lucky are feared most.

Verdict

A wide-open renewal of this hugely competitive handicap sees the progressive Dash Of Spice arrive in search of his third big handicap success in a row. Having won at Epsom on Derby day and Royal Ascot in the Duke Of Edinburgh, when coping with a 9lb rise in the handicap, he is 4lb well in and hugely respected once again, but THUNDERING BLUE could have his measure dropping back down in trip. David Menuisier's grey was down the field at Ascot behind Dash Of Spice but his C&D success at the Dante meeting was hugely impressive and, if the ground is similarly as fast as it was that day, a bold bid is expected from this hold-up performer. Kynren has never raced over further than a mile but has threatened to improve for a step up to 1m2f and the likely strong pace is guaranteed to suit. Others to consider include Appeared, who was fourth on his return at Royal Ascot, and Titus, who will be more suited by the step back up in trip than running over a mile at the Curragh last time.

Verdict

In a typically competitive renewal, the vote goes to ACROSS DUBAI, who ran a cracker at Chelmsford last time and has left the impression he will be suited to the demands of a race of this nature. Dash of Spice is also a major player, while Thundering Blue could offer each-way punters a run for their money.

Fairly useful hurdler in 2016, successful twice, but offered little after 20 months off in the Queen Mother's Cup here 4 weeks ago. Hard to fancy.

Verdict

Stone The Crows, Croquembouche and Ingleby Hollow have all scored well of late and arrive with their tails up, while Master Archer, who has spent much of his career finishing second, landed a well-deserved first win at Chester last time and may well be capable of more success. However, NORTHWEST FRONTIER has been in fine form at two miles this term, scoring in imperious fashion twice at the distance, and can land a third victory in four.

Verdict

NORTHWEST FRONTIER remains with potential for Richard Fahey and can resume his progress with a third win in 4 starts back up at 2m. Stone The Crows likely has more to offer on the back of a gutsy victory at Carlisle. Here And Now seems likely to get back on track and is another to consider.
