Verdict

Big Boots has finished outside the top two only once in four starts and with Mick Channon thriving with his two-year-olds, he has to be respected. However, CHAPELLI showed plenty of talent to overcome a bad draw and score on debut at Catterick and is backed to make it two from two here. Ventura Ocean is an interesting newcomer at a venue Richard Fahey enjoys success, while fellow Yorkshire-based handler Kevin Ryan gives a debut to Baldwin who is also considered.

Verdict

CHAPELLI made the perfect start at Catterick 6 days ago, and may well improve enough to follow up. Reloaded and Ventura Ocean need respecting on debut, and strong market support for either could prove significant.

Looked better than ever when regaining the winning thread at Beverley (8.4f) last month. However, found life tougher off this mark subsequently at Ripon where he was 4½ lengths adrift of Fayez.

Verdict

ACROSS DUBAI ended last season with a decent effort at Sandown behind Thundering Blue over this trip. He has since been gelded and remains unexposed with this only his sixth start. He represents William Haggas who is no stranger to success on the Knavesmire and this looks an ideal starting point for his season. Nathan progressed through handicaps last season and has the scope for further improvement, while Master Carpenter is well handicapped on his old form at a track he loves.

Verdict

The really interesting one is NATHAN, who was unraced at 2 yrs but made good strides when switched to handicaps last season and there should be more to come from this lightly-raced 4-y-o. It's easy to forgive Mafaaheem's low-key reappearance given his otherwise consistent profile and he is feared most. Master Carpenter usually saves his best for this venue and is also accorded respect.

Mere glimmers of ability on debut at Redcar and others make more appeal.

Verdict

One One Seven had a few of these rivals behind him when scoring at Beverley and has to be considered on his first start for Antony Brittain, while his former handler Amy Murphy saddles the improving Mazeo Lad, who is entitled to get involved. However, it may be best to stick with MR BUTTONS, who has made the podium on all three outings, winning at Southwell on debut, and looks set for a leading role once again.

Verdict

With no penalty to carry down in grade here, MR BUTTONS should prove a tough nut to crack. The form of his latest effort at Hamilton has been franked since and a mere reproduction of that would surely suffice. Newcomer Chains of Love will be of interest if the vibes surrounding her in the betting are positive, while Minas Gerais may also have a part to play.

Showed ability in Irish maidens last term and won by a street on return/debut for new yard at Southwell in December. Plausible excuses in handicaps subsequently and worth another chance back on turf.

Verdict

Hajjam finally rewarded connections with a win at Ayr after some fine efforts in defeat and he can prove competitive despite a 5lb rise in the weights. Magic City (first) and Imperial State (second) gave Mick Easterby a 1-2 over C&D at the last meeting here and should go close once again, but THE GREAT WALL gets the nod. He looks fairly treated off a mark of 77 and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa is a big positive. Juanito Chico and Sea Fox complete the shortlist.

Verdict

Conditions here will be more suitable for JUANITO CHICO than those which he has encountered at Newmarket and Epsom this season, and William Jarvis' charge may well prove the answer to what looks a wide-open handicap. Imperial State is taken to reverse recent C&D placings with Magic City and emerge as the main danger, while The Great Wall, Hajjam and Starlight Romance are others to consider.

Wins last year included Group 2 Mile at Sandown and an Epsom Group 3. Not at his best so far this season but certainly capable of a bold show if bouncing back.

Verdict

Here Comes When has plenty in his favour, being a C&D scorer, top-rated in the field and entitled to strip fitter for a fifth-placed effort in Group 2 company at Sandown, but race tactics could see AROD upset the forecast favourite. The seven-year-old, a Group 3 scorer in his pomp, produced his best performance since joining David Simcock's team when making all in this company at Windsor last month and, from stall one, he can grab an early lead and grind it out from the front once more. Sovereign Debt might not be the force of old but looks best of the remaining trio.

Verdict

Just as he did when scoring at Windsor last month, AROD is likely to be allowed his own way out in front here and, with conditions plenty quick enough for Here Comes When and Sovereign Debt needing to bounce back, further success awaits David Simcock's charge.

Failed to land a blow on sole 2-y-o start but made it 2-4 this season when landing a Bath novice (5.7f) in decisive fashion a fortnight ago. More needed on handicap debut but she's hardly exposed.

Verdict

The thriving Sandra's Secret has been allowed uncontested leads under Silvestre De Sousa at Ripon the last twice but she may not find things fall so kindly here with the speedy CARLTON FRANKIE in opposition. Mick Easterby's four-year-old underwent wind surgery earlier in the year and looked like she was ready to make up for lost time with an impressive Redcar victory latest. Hat-trick seeker Maid In India rates best of the rest.

Verdict

Lightly-raced 4-y-os MAID IN INDIA and Gorgeous Noora may be the pair to concentrate on. The latter isn't passed over lightly but preference is for Maid In India, who again appeared to win with more in hand than the margin of victory would suggest at Haydock and she remains with potential. Charming Guest is most interesting of the remainder.
