Confirmed previous promise and improved to score over C&D last month, forging clear and ultimately looking impressive. This clearly a big jump up but likely there is more to come.

Verdict

Le Brivido lost his unbeaten record when runner-up in the French 2000 Guineas behind Brametot and the return to 7f gives him leading claims to return to winning form along with Daban, who performed with plenty of credit in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket when third to Winter despite being drawn on the outside and not getting much cover in the early stages. Another dropping down to 7f is DREAM CASTLE, fifth in the 2000 Guineas behind Churchill, and the son of Frankel created arguably one of the biggest impressions this season when powering clear on the bridle in the Greenham, only to get outstayed by Barney Roy. Josephine Gordon looks a notable booking as she bids to become the second female jockey to ride a winner at the Royal meeting. Winning Ways couldn't have won any easier on his latest start over C&D in a handicap and looked ready for a step up in class, while of those at bigger prices, Escobar and Mubtasim both make some appeal, especially the latter who has looked to be crying out for a step up to 7f.

Verdict

LE BRIVIDO was much improved and showed very smart form when going close in the French 2000 Guineas last month. That form has been boosted since by the winner and he gets the nod with further improvement expected. Dream Castle remains one to be interested in having not been seen to best effect in the Guineas, while Whitecliffsofdover and Daban are a couple of others entitled to respect.

Fairly useful performer. Won maiden at Bordeaux in March and minor event at Maisons-Laffitte (by 3½ lengths from Lamchope) in April. This her sixth start so she's rather shown her hand.

Verdict

Wesley Ward has taken this the last two years with Acapulco and Lady Aurelia and looks set to land the hat trick here, with HAPPY LIKE A FOOL set to follow in her elders footsteps. A four-length victor at Keeneland on her only start so far, she has been all the rage in the ante-post market and has been highlighted as one of her handler's leading hopes for the week. Neola looks the main challenger and her Marygate Stakes second at York is potentially the best form around from the home contingent, while Clive Cox will be hoping Heartache is able to match her debut effort when a wide-margin victor. Emilia James got a confidence-boosting victory at Chelmsford last time and she looks a tough cookie from the Mark Johnston yard who brings plenty of match-day experience to the table.

Verdict

Wesley Ward chases his fourth success in the Queen Mary (including the last 2 renewals) and HAPPY LIKE A FOOL ticks all the right boxes following her demolition job at Keeneland in April. It will be fascinating to see whether the home contingent can lay a glove on her, with Heartache (debut win backed up by the clock) and C&D scorer Mrs Gallagher probably the main threats.

Winner of Argentinian Group 1 by 7 lengths when last seen 11 months ago. New trainer sent out fellow Argentinian recruit Furia Cruzada to finish second in this last year. Very interesting runner.

Verdict

Mix And Mingle had a race-fitness edge and received an enterprising ride from Ryan Moore when turning over last season's Coronation Stakes scorer Qemah over 7f at Lingfield and, although both have definite chances, the latter could well turn the tables. Usherette was also successful at this meeting 12 months ago, impressively landing the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, and a couple of promising efforts in her native France will have put her spot on for today, but it's the other Godolphin representative LAUGH ALOUD that rates the one to beat. It was difficult not to be impressed by the manner of her five-length victory in Group 3 company at Epsom and the progressive daughter of Dubawi could well land this before dining out at the top table in the near future. Smart Call is entitled to improve for her Middleton Stakes third and makes the shortlist, as does John Gosden's Argentinian recruit Greta G.

Verdict

A strong renewal of this Group 2. Last year's Coronation winner QEMAH had an excuse when beaten by the reopposing Mix And Mingle on her Lingfield return and is selected to bounce back to her best and come good at this meeting again. The Godolphin-owned pair Laugh Aloud and Usherette, who took this 12 months ago, could give her most to do.
