Verdict

The 2m4f trip may have been against ARTHINGTON in a very competitive handicap at Cheltenham last time and he could take plenty of beating today based on his previous efforts. The five-year-old had been extremely consistent over hurdles prior to that latest run and a second-placed finish at Sandown under a double penalty in February is particularly strong form. Fin And Game looks to have a bright future based on his victories over hurdles during the winter, while Brahms De Clermont and Deyrann de Carjac are others who make plenty of appeal.

Verdict

ARTHINGTON has done well over hurdles this season. He shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests at the Cheltenham Festival last month, and looks sure to make a bold bid with this return to 2m very much in his favour. Fin And Game, Brahms de Clermont and Deyrann de Carjac all come into the reckoning in a competitive event.

Improving nicely, winning handicap hurdles over C&D and at Carlisle in March under Brian Hughes. Up 6 lb in tougher race but may progress again.

Verdict

Our Lucas must be high up on the shortlist arriving here on a hat-trick and the course and distance winner has the assistance of leading rider Brian Hughes once again, while Martila was a smart winner over track and trip in November and warrants respect. Mick Thonic is interesting blinkered on his return to hurdles with Dino Velvet still lurking on a winnable mark. However, a chance is taken on EMBOLE, who was not disgraced in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham and competes off a 4lb lower mark here.

Verdict

DEMON D'AUNOU is open to improvement now going handicapping for his leading connections and makes plenty of appeal. Martila hasn't been seen since winning in good style here in November and remains with potential, while Our Lucas is very much going the right way.

Verdict

DARIUS DES BOIS improved considerably after a wind operation when landing a handicap hurdle at Newbury last month and he looks more than capable of defying an 8lb rise in the weights despite this looking a tougher task on paper. Uncle Alastair should benefit from a first-time tongue tie and potentially for a sounder surface, while Spider's Bite and Ocean Cove both appear to have more to offer in handicaps.

Verdict

DARIUS DES BOIS had clearly benefited from a wind operation judged on the manner of his handicap debut success at Newbury last month, notably quickening up and keeping on well to score by 5 lengths. He's open to further improvement and gets the nod to follow up. This is an intriguing contest though, with Voie Dans Voie, Sir Will and Ocean Cove just a trio of viable threats.

Hurdles winner who has struck 3 times over fences this term, taking it up another notch in 2m Carlisle handicap 12 days ago. 5 lb penalty in stronger race now but is going right way.

Verdict

THEINVAL comes alive at this time of the year on better ground and has justified that claim in recent weeks with a fourth at Cheltenham and second at Aintree, both in competitive events. An unchanged mark of 141 is one that he can strike off, most likely at the expense of Full Glass, who is interesting on UK debut for Alan King. Guitar Pete ran creditably in the Brown Advisory Plate at Cheltenham and could also go close.

Verdict

THEINVAL is 7 lb lower than when finishing runner-up in this race 12 months ago and can go one better this time on the back of a good run at Aintree last week. French recruit Full Glass is a fascinating contender on his first outing for Alan King, while Guitar Pete has acquitted himself very well in some strong handicaps at Cheltenham of late and should figure again.

Course winner over hurdles who stepped up on her comeback run when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Carlisle (20f) 20 days ago. Likely to be much sharper again and very much considered.

Verdict

A competitive heat in which none of the runners can be ruled out. A chance is taken on COPAIN DE CLASSE leaving behind his latest effort at Kempton now fitted with a first-time tongue-tie. He ran well enough off this mark when third in an Ascot handicap in November. The drop back from 2m5f appears ideal for Valhalla while Azzuri, a dual winner over an extended 1m7f at Southwell last summer, would be a big player on decent ground.

Verdict

VERONA OPERA seems to have been working her way back to form/fitness after a mid-winter break, and the booking of Richard Johnson suggests a big run is imminent. Copain de Classe is worth another chance back on better ground fitted with a first-time tongue tie, while Azzuri also has to be taken seriously with this drop in trip likely to see him to good effect.

On a fair mark and back to form despite inadequate test when second at Carlisle recently, so not totally discounted for all this is a more competitive affair than she's used to.

Verdict

CARNSPINDLE's chances of victory were ended after hitting a hurdle hard at Bangor last time when mounting her challenge, but she looks set to bounce back here under Tom Greatrex for a trainer who won this event back in 2011. Hitherjacques Lady was deemed good enough for Grade 2 company in January and ran well against the boys in a decent Uttoxeter handicap last time, while Miss Tynte looks fairly treated and was an impressive 12-length scorer at Ludlow recently.

Verdict

HITHERJACQUES LADY is one of several still getting better in this field and travelled like she was still comfortably ahead of her mark at Uttoxeter last time, so she gets the narrow vote to edge out the tough Lamanver Oddysey, with Drinks Interval another one firmly on the radar following an encouraging display at Kempton recently.
