Off the mark in 5f Lingfield AW nursery when last seen, beating a next-time-out winner. Showed her form on turf prior to that and big player on return if fully fit from winter break.

Verdict

Right at the foot of the weights, it might pay to side with the returning MAYGOLD. Ed Walker's filly improved throughout her juvenile campaign (suggesting that there is more to come this year), she has proven that she handles the undulations of this track (runner-up over slightly shorter in September) and has in-form jockey Silvestre De Sousa aboard. Validator and Alkhalifa are also expected to go well on their reappearances.

Verdict

MAYGOLD is fancied to begin 2018 in similar form to how she ended 2017 by taking a very competitive three-year old handicap. Gangland will give her most to think about if he returns in similar form to last year. Kion had some useful turf form in Ireland last year and may pose the next biggest threat.

Foaled March 18. 8,000 gns yearling, Born To Sea filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 7f winner Mickey and 6f winner Heroic Endeavour. Dam 5f/6f winner (including at 2 yrs).

Verdict

Temple of Wonder and Sir Victor both represent powerful connections, and connections that have been amongst the juvenile winners in recent days, so they both warrant respect on debut, but it might pay to side with the experience of KINKS. Also representing a stable that have been firing in two-year-old winners of late, the Sixties Icon colt lost little in defeat when a head second on his introduction at Kempton and he will prove tough to beat.

Verdict

David Evans' juveniles are going on nicely once more and TEMPLE OF WONDER makes plenty of appeal on debut, with Silvestre De Sousa a significant booking. Kinks can put his experience to good use and is likely to be in the shake-up, while Sir Victor is another newcomer to note.

Won a maiden and handicap in Ireland for Johnny Murtagh last season, since sold for 100,000 gns to Dean Ivory. Needs to build on fourth in Cornwallis Stakes last October but not impossible she does.

Verdict

Mabs Cross warrants plenty of respect having won each of her last four appearances during 2017, but FASHION QUEEN shades the verdict in receipt of 3lb. David O'Meara's charge was only beaten half-a-length in Group 3 company at Chantilly two starts ago and has already proven that she goes well fresh, having won a Listed event at York first time out last season. Marie Of Lyon and Razzmatazz are others to note.

Verdict

Penalised MABS CROSS is likely to continue her progression as a four-year old after improving to listed company from a mark of 74 last year. Razzmatazz is an intriguing runner who catches the eye having changed hands at the sales last year and is a danger if she improves. Marie of Lyon ended 2017 with a very respectable second in a listed race and deserves respect despite the drop to 5f.

Solid second at Kempton earlier this month which is the pick of her form. Ran well at this course last summer and makes more appeal than most in this field.

Verdict

Ron Harris has a fine record with sprinters and GLAMOROUS DREAM looks the type to progress nicely now making her debut in handicaps. She is a half-sister to Group 3 winners Just Glamorous and Glamorous Spirit, both trained by Harris, and an opening mark of 66 may just underestimate her ability. Marietta Robusti was a good winner at Windsor on Monday and must be respected under a penalty, while Crystal Deauville completes the shortlist.

Verdict

FOLLOWING BREEZE posted her best performance to date last time at Kempton ,and with form at this track, she's taken to repel the more lightly raced Ellen Gates, who has potential to improve, and the penalised Marietta Robusti. The race is lacking in depth outside of the three and Spot Lite may be worth watching in the betting after his winter break.

Verdict

COWBOY SOLDIER clearly improved from his debut at Nottingham when landing the spoils in a novice contest at Newcastle last month and the son of Kodiac looks capable of taking another step forward here. Youkan won well on debut at Salisbury last May and has to be considered despite a 337-day absence, while Grandma Tilly took a step forward from her debut effort last year when finishing second here last month and she's another to note.

Verdict

COWBOY SOLDIER had a bit in hand when scoring at Newcastle last month, and with further improvement on the cards, he’s taken to follow up. Youkan and Charming Quest should have more to offer this year and head the opposition.
