Verdict

MOTHER OF DRAGONS rattled the crossbar off this mark over this trip at Thirsk last time out and wouldn't need to find much improvement in order to gain compensation. Cent Flying was beaten by a short-head off this mark at Bath in May and appears weighted to finish on the premises. Although Peggie Sue is rated 5lb higher than when striking at Wolverhampton in June, she's no forlorn hope for a place.

Verdict

MOTHER OF DRAGONS is due to go up 4 lb having pulled well clear of the third when runner-up at Thirsk last week and can notch a second career success. Wednesday's ready Yarmouth winner Jan's Joy will be a threat if turned out again quickly, with Cent Flying best of the rest.

Modest filly. 25/1, last of 3 in minor event at Bath (5f, firm) 16 days ago.

Verdict

SHOWOUT took a step in the right direction when striking over this trip at Hamilton, defying odds-on favouritism in the process, and is now expected to remain competitive under a penalty. Desert Lantern makes appeal on her debut second at Ripon and can fight it out for the minor money with the exposed, but capable, No More Regrets, who is rated 82 on official figures and competed in a tough handicap at Goodwood latest.

Verdict

Hamilton-scorer SHOWOUT should have more to offer and can provide Archie Watson with yet another 2-y-o winner. Desert Lantern faded after showing speed at Goodwood last week but should be sharper with that first run for 10 weeks under her belt and can give the selection most to do.

Yet to get seriously competitive in 3 outings for this yard. Others arrive with more pressing claims.

Verdict

General Brook made all over this trip at Chepstow last time and has every chance of completing a hat-trick, for all he's now 6lb higher in the ratings. Narrow preference, however, is for LIGHT OF AIR, who was touched off by a neck over 1m2f at Sandown last time out but is expected to go one better, off 1lb higher, now stepping back up in trip. Eight-time course winner Roy Rocket cannot be left out of calculations either.

Verdict

LIGHT OF AIR has refound some form on his last 2 outings and is taken to strike from a mark 4 lb lower than when successful over C&D last year. Poetic Steps posted another decent effort when second at Ripon on Monday and gets the nod for the forecast spot ahead of course-specialist Roy Rocket.

Back to winning ways at Newbury in June but below par twice since. Others preferred.

Verdict

Bid Adieu faded inside the final furlong when third over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last time and is expected to benefit from the drop back to 1m2f, though he does remain 3lb higher than his last winning rating. Marginal preference is for unexposed Godolphin representative KILLDEER, who could be a dangerous opponent in receipt of weight-for-age. Rock Icon has place claims now stepping up from a mile and is another to note.

Verdict

This is easier than the very competitive 3-y-o handicap ORANGE SUIT tackled at Ascot last time and he's taken to resume winning ways in this lower grade. Danzay is taking his racing well and should figure again, while Bid Adieu is also respected back over what is probably his optimum trip.

C&D winner. Latest win here in July. Ninth of 14 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, good to firm, 18/1) 6 days ago. Has work to do.

Verdict

The consistent POUR LA VICTOIRE should appreciate a drop back in trip after a good third over 1m here on Wednesday and a record of 2-4 over this C&D reads well. Tony Carroll's charge has a nice racing weight and everything points to another bold showing under 7lb claimer Poppy Bridgwater, who won aboard the eight-year-old at Newmarket two starts back. Jack Taylor isn't without claims dropping in class following his Goodwood reverse last week, while Big Lachie is also noted.

Verdict

POUR LA VICTOIRE deserves plenty of credit for his consistency this season and is sure to go well again as he bids for a seventh course success. Jack Taylor and Mamillius are feared most.

4/1, 5 lengths fourth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, firm) 16 days ago. Eased another 2 lb and contender if first-time cheekpieces have a positive effect.

Verdict

KACHUMBA is two wins from three starts at this track, all over C&D, and this three-year-old filly might not be done improving yet. She was only beaten a length at Yarmouth last time and is well worth another look. Black Caesar heads the list of dangers, a three-time track and trip winner, while chances are also given to Good Luck Charm, who is no stranger to success at this venue and won this race 12 months ago.

Verdict

KACHUMBA is enjoying an excellent campaign and can notch a third C&D success. Fellow 3-y-o filly Lady Marigold has come down in the weights and may be a threat if reacting positively to first-time cheekpieces, while last year's winner Good Luck Charm is well handicapped and would come into it if the market speaks in his favour.

Sixth of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm, 33/1) 23 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time.

Verdict

The pick of Hurricane Alert's recent form is on the all-weather but he cannot be overlooked, while Impart placed on his only previous start at this venue and Mocead Cappall is another expected to go well. TIME MEDICEAN gets the verdict, though, as he performed well under this 7lb claiming rider at Wolverhampton before another fine effort when runner-up over 7f here on Thursday and the drop back in trip may help.

Verdict

IMPART is in better form than his recent form figures suggest and could be the answer having been eased another 2 lb. Ask The Guru and Hurricane Alert are feared most.
