Poor Flat maiden well beaten in 4 runs over hurdles. Again disappointing on the level at Carlisle latest and operating from 4 lb out of the weights today.

Verdict

CANNY STYLE remains unexposed over hurdles, having only had the four outings, and the daughter of Canford Cliffs has the benefit of a couple of recent outings on the Flat. Night Manager is likely to benefit from a drop in trip having appeared to not see out 2m4f at Uttoxeter on his latest start, while Green Zone and Xpo Universel look best of the remainder.

Verdict

ZABEEL STAR didn't show a great deal in his qualifying runs over hurdles for his previous handler, yet his opening mark based on his Flat form makes him appealing, and he could be worth chancing without the benefit of market clues. Green Zone, Wazowski and Shadow Sadness are others fancied to feature.

Has shown he retains ability over hurdles since returning from long absence this summer but bit of a surprise if he proved up to making a successful chase debut in this company.

Verdict

LUCKOFTHEDRAW showed some good form as a novice hurdler, which included a victory at Ffos Las in April when beating Burrows Edge, and there is every chance he could improve for going over fences. Fin And Game was unable to land the four-timer at Ayr behind Brahms De Clermont in April, but won fresh last November and is likely to pose a decent threat along with Bulkov, who ended last season with two victories at Sedgefield.

Verdict

A cracking race, featuring quite a few who could do well over fences this season. FIN AND GAME gets a tentative vote for Donald McCain, who took this race 12 months ago, but there are lots of dangers, headed by Du Soleil, Blottos and Bulkov.

Verdict

Return Ticket already has winning experience over timber having made a pleasing start in this sphere at Ayr in May. Under most circumstances the son of Getaway would be able to defy a winner's penalty, but he faces an exciting type in the shape of GOOD BOY BOBBY. His sole defeat came in a Listed bumper at Newbury, when attempting to give weight to the smart Acey Milan, but all his other efforts underline him as a potential top-class performer. The Some Dance Kid was a bumper winner at Catterick in February for Donald McCain and looks best of the remainder.

Verdict

GOOD BOY BOBBY did very well in bumpers last term, with his only defeat in 4 starts coming when third at listed level, and he's expected to take a bit of stopping on his hurdles bow. Return Ticket did it nicely in a similar event at Ayr in May and could be the one to give him most to do ahead of Donald McCain's bumper winner The Some Dance Kid.

Offered little at Hexham on hurdling bow 5 days ago and makes little appeal in this.

Verdict

AL DANCER showed good form in bumpers and ended last season finishing fourth to Portrush Ted in the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree. All of his efforts came on soft ground last term and the recent rain will have been welcomed by connections. Windsor Avenue won both his bumpers in easy fashion and is a half-brother to the highly-regarded Ravenhill Road. Others to consider include Tedham, who was well supported in the market when third in a good bumper at Warwick behind the likes of Umndeni and Morning Vicar, and First Account, a winner of his sole point-to-point at Belclare who has joined Donald McCain.

Verdict

WINDSOR AVENUE and Al Dancer were both above-average winners in bumpers who appeal as rather exciting additions to the hurdling ranks, so they're taken to fight this out, with the former perhaps having the edge based on his previous experience over obstacles between the flags. Fellow ex-pointer First Account is another who makes appeal.

Verdict

SKY PIRATE's Uttoxeter form was given a timely boost when the second, Drinks Interval, came out and routed a field at Chepstow over the weekend and the son of Midnight Legend looks capable of improvement on only his second chase start. Shanroe Santos is of interest returning to the scene of his most impressive victory over fences which came in February this year, while Cooking Fat seemed to appreciate the step up to 3m at Perth and could have more to offer at the trip.

Verdict

Despite failing to justify strong support, SKY PIRATE offered plenty to work on starting out over fences at Uttoxeter, and given his looks and point background, will be winning races in this sphere sooner rather than later. Cooking Fat is second choice, though a fully-wound up Tintern Theatre would be a big threat.

Verdict

PINEAPPLE RUSH looked a smart novice hurdler last term when winning two on the bounce at Sedgefield and Hexham. She struggled to land a telling blow on her final start of the season at Aintree on her handicap debut but is expected to better that effort now encountering softer underfoot conditions and while still open to plenty of improvement. Quids In is entitled to have improved for his comeback spin and first start for Donald McCain at Bangor earlier in the month and he heads the list of dangers from Presence Felt.

Verdict

Supporters of QUIDS IN were far from it on his recent return at Bangor, but he looked to finish with running left and is worth chancing to make amends from a 2 lb lower mark. Pineapple Rush is feared most ahead of Budarri.
