Fifth of 16 in maiden at Leicester (6f, good to soft, 28/1) on debut 14 days ago. May well do better.

Verdict

GHOST SERGE looked a smart colt in the making when producing an impressive winning debut at Lingfield earlier in the month, scoring by seven lengths, and he should be capable of defying weight all round. Our Man In Havana has some solid form in the book and was second at Wolverhampton recently, while Richard Fahey takes the wraps off Cameo Star and it will be interesting to see which way he goes in the betting.

Verdict

GHOST SERGE probably didn't beat much on debut at Lingfield 18 days ago, but he could do no more than win impressively and he is selected to defy a penalty. Fink Hill was popular in the betting starting out at Newcastle and showed why to an extent, so better is forthcoming, with Han Solo Berger an interesting newcomer.

Thrice-raced filly. 3/1, second of 7 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time and she ought to be very competitive.

Verdict

WORLD POWER just about sets the standard having finished second in each of her last two starts and the recent Wolverhampton runner-up is fancied to make it third time lucky today. Paul Cole's charge comes up against Irish raider Evies Wish and she has shown up well enough at the Curragh and Dundalk recently to suggest she will be able to play a big role here. Newcomers Butterworth Brow and Clon Coulis are both nicely bred and the betting could prove informative in regards to that pair.

Verdict

Unless one of the newcomers is pretty useful, EVIES WISH and World Power ought to fight this out. The latter holds a race-fitness edge sporting cheekpieces for the first time, but there's slightly more substance to the former's Irish performances for another yard last year.

Minor promise only so far but he should strip fitter for last month's reappearance.

Verdict

EXOTIC GUEST displayed a really good attitude when fending off the heavily-backed Manshood over 5f here last time and with the return to 6f no issue, he looks capable of going in again despite a 3lb rise from the handicapper. Portland Street has finished second the last twice and could go close once more if able to overcome his wide draw, while the lightly-raced Hee Haw still appeals as one with more to offer.

Verdict

HEE HAW was unlucky not to finish closer to the winner on Wednesday's handicap debut at Hamilton and he should be backed to go one better from the same mark. There are of course dangers to the selection, headed by the well-weighted Newstead Abbey and Exotic Guest.

Positive ride and first-time cheekpieces factors in getting off the mark at Carlisle last week. 5 lb rise in a better race enough to look elsewhere.

Positive ride and first-time cheekpieces factors in getting off the mark at Carlisle last week. 5 lb rise in a better race enough to look elsewhere.

Verdict

Sir Runs A Lot goes handicapping from a feasible rating and he takes the eye, while Celtic Artisan and Henpecked were both placed last time and seem sure to take close order again. However, perhaps MAULESDEN MAY can prove the one to beat having made a promising return to action when third at Ayr. Keith Dalgleish has his string in better form now and her turn shouldn't be far away.

Verdict

There was enough promise in OMOTESANDO's recent stable debut to think he can be very competitive from this mark, so he is awarded the vote with Joe Fanning a positive booking. Henpecked can remain competitive, with Sir Runs A Lot one to note if backed on handicap debut.

Verdict

A stiff mile looks best for Ravenhoe and it would come as no surprise to see him return to form, while African Blessing was a winner on his comeback and is clearly much better than shown at this track last time. So It's War is another who comes into this on a retrieval mission so slight preference is for MUSTAQBAL, a close second here only eleven days ago and representing a Michael Dods stable that has been going great guns of late.

Verdict

Despite looking pretty exposed as a 3-y-o, FULL OF PROMISE turned in a personal best when runner-up at Musselburgh 16 days ago and was unlucky not to finish closer, so she is a sporting selection in an open race. Curzon Line offered more at Redcar last time and heads the dangers, with Mustaqbal another to note.

Verdict

CONTENTMENT was always held in high regard by the William Haggas camp last year and finally delivered on her early promise when making an impressive winning reappearance at Goodwood last month. She looked an improved filly on that occasion and could prove more than capable of defying her opening handicap mark of 78. Seduce Me ran well for second at Nottingham recently and might be the one to fill that position again, with Miss Sheridan rating best of the rest.

Verdict

CONTENTMENT was value for a bit extra when landing a Goodwood maiden on reappearance 3 weeks ago and her opening mark may underestimate her. Greenview Paradise is progressing from a low base and is feared most.
