Verdict

MURRAY RIVER has steadily improved with every start in maiden/novice company and, while an opening mark of 78 is no gift, he should relish the step up to 1m2f this evening. Gentle Look was a beaten favourite last time out but it is far too soon to be writing him off, while Critical Data and Lord Lamington are others who merit consideration.

Verdict

GENTLE LOOK wasn't seen to best effect when fourth at Bath last time and looks on a decent mark for his first crack in handicap company. He can open his account. Lord Lamington and Murray River look the likeliest dangers.

Verdict

ITIZZIT was only beaten a nose and a short-head when finishing third in a Lingfield nursery last time out off a mark of 77. If she can replicate that form then the daughter of Mukhadram could prove very hard to beat. Past winners Anycity and Lonely Boy both have to be respected but could struggle to give weight to the selection, while any market support for Power Of States would have to be noted.

Verdict

ITIZZIT holds the strongest form credentials here and arrives on the back of a career-best effort in a Lingfield nursery a fortnight ago. She can get off the mark. Anycity and Lonely Boy rate the principal dangers.

Twice-raced maiden. Last of 10 in maiden at Goodwood (1m, good to firm, 25/1) 44 days ago, finding little.

Verdict

AWE appeared to have more in hand than the winning distance of a length suggested at Redcar last time out and he makes plenty of appeal once again. Karnavaal and Scat King both improved for their debut experiences when running well on their most recent starts and they could pose the biggest threats to the selection. Although, any positive market vibes for newcomers Baasem or Patronus would be interesting.

Verdict

The race KARNAVAAL was fourth in at Newmarket last time has already thrown up a couple of winners and he could be the way to go. Awe overcame unfavourable circumstances to win at Redcar recently and he's likely to make a bold bid to defy the penalty, while Scat King left his debut behind when third at Wolverhampton last time and likely has more to offer for a yard with a 12/39 record here in 2018.

Verdict

BOY IN THE BAR returned to winning ways over course and distance last month and a 4lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest as well. Island Cloud made an encouraging return from a short break at Newmarket last month and she could make the frame tonight, while Starboy and Gallipoli both have an each-way shout in a wide-open event.

Verdict

A return to this venue saw BOY IN THE BAR come good last time and he may be capable of following up under James Doyle. The unexposed Field Gun rates a big threat nonetheless whilst Northern raiders Gallipoli and Portledge are also respected in a very open heat.

Well held at Brighton last time but has been placed on both previous visits here, including runner-up over 13f on penultimate start.

Verdict

ALEXIS CARRINGTON showed some promise on her handicap debut over 1m4f at Newcastle, where the performance suggested a step up in trip would potentially unlock further improvement. Pollyissimo has the assistance of Oisin Murphy for the first time in the saddle which could eke out more, along with the extra four furlongs, while The Fiddler ran well at Kempton at the beginning of the month and remains unexposed over staying distances.

Verdict

THE FIDDLER caught the eye a bit when keeping on from too far back on his first attempt over 2m last time and might be worth siding with in an open heat. Duggary has been placed on both previous outings here and can figure again, while Navajo Squaw was an improved third over C&D last week.

15/2, twelfth of 15 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) on debut, unable to sustain effort. Off 131 days. Likely better than that but Muneyra looks stable first string.

Verdict

MUNEYRA didn't need to improve from her debut here over 6f when stepping up to 7f to win at Wolverhampton, where sent off a short-priced favourite. The daughter of Dubawi should prove capable of defying her penalty. Thaayer shaped with encouragement over 1m at Lingfield on his racecourse debut and is respected dropping down in trip. Others to consider include newcomers Heavenly Holly and Mathematical.

Verdict

MUNEYRA had a fair bit in hand when striking at the second time of asking at Wolverhampton recently and can make light of her penalty with improvement on the cards. Thaayer shaped nicely on his Lingfield debut a fortnight ago and could be the one to give her most to do ahead of Creek Harbour, who showed promise on his course debut and was presumably unsuited by testing ground on turf last time.

Verdict

MY BROTHER MIKE has been running over further of late and could potentially find improvement for the drop to a mile and having first-time blinkers fitted. His fourth at Newcastle latest was a solid enough effort and he can account for the consistent Global Wonder, who wears a first-time tongue-tie after placing in six of his last seven outings, and Meidan, who ran well over C&D last month when fourth behind Formiga.

Verdict

MANKIND has become potentially very well treated and a big run looks on the cards back down in trip with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle. Global Wonder and My Brother Mike head the opposition.
