Verdict

Both Catan and Querelle were beaten double-figure lengths on debut, only to improve sufficiently to win on their respective second starts. The latter struck on this surface at Kempton and is marginally preferred, though this could be FINTAS' chance to get into the winner's enclosure. Richard Hughes' colt was beaten just a length when completely unfancied at Wolverhampton on debut and could go on to better things from that. Godolphin's Global Heat is interesting on his first taste of racecourse action.

Verdict

QUERELLE left her debut well behind when winning at Kempton and she could well have the run of the race again from her low draw. Fellow-penalised winner Catan is next best with Global Heat making most appeal of the newcomers.

Verdict

PAPA STOUR overcame trouble at the start and having to squeeze between rivals late on to take second over this course and distance last time and he is taken to go one better. Dangers abound, though, as Richard Hannon saddles a pair of last-time-out winners in Maaward and War Glory, while Zap made the trip over to Ireland a profitable one latest and is only 2lb higher in this.

Verdict

PAPA STOUR ran his best race yet when runner-up over C&D last time, value for extra having been poorly placed, and should go well again. Maaward has made a very encouraging start to his career and is potentially smart ahead of handicap debut, while Glenglade is another progressive type who needs considering.

Verdict

Anasheed ran a cracking race to finish second on debut at Goodwood in May, with the first and third franking the form with numerous subsequent victories. Her absence since that run does temper enthusiasm somewhat, though, so SAFFIRA gets the nod. John Gosden's filly was a solid second on debut at Brighton earlier this month and could build on that effort. Newcomers Taraayef and Keltie are others to note.

Verdict

ANASHEED was clear of the others when a close second on debut at Goodwood back in May and sets a good standard. Lacustre showed plenty on her sole start for Andre Fabre in April and may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of well-bred newcomers Taraayef and Keltie.

Verdict

Eeh Bah Gum was two lengths ahead of Marnie James when successful at York last time and could confirm those placings despite running on 6lb worse terms here. Other last-time-out winners Fool For You and Billy Dylan also merit respect, but preference is for MOUNTAIN PEAK. Ed Walker's gelding is proven on an all-weather surface and showed he is still progressing when landing an Ascot handicap in fine style last time. A 5lb rise may not be enough to stop him.

Verdict

MOUNTAIN PEAK got back on the up when gaining his third handicap success of the season at Ascot 2 weeks ago and remains a sprinter to keep on the right side of. Fool For You took her form to another level when scoring at Wolverhampton and is another to consider, along with the prolific Eeh Bah Gum.

Seventeen runs since last win in 2016. 66/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good). Off 101 days. Tongue strap back on. Others preferred.

Verdict

Royal Mezyan continues to slide down the ratings and could be ready to strike soon, but preference is for LA FORTUNA after a string of consistent efforts in defeat of late and the Charlie Wallis-trained mare boasts winning form over this C&D . Eternal Destiny ran a respectable race on her handicap debut at Yarmouth and is another to consider.

Verdict

ETERNAL DESTINY isn’t sure to be suited by a step back in trip, but unquestionably remains capable of better, which makes her more interesting than most at this sort of level. La Fortuna hasn't had much luck lately and is clear-second choice. Turanga Leela is also worth a peek in the betting from a tumbling mark.

Verdict

NAVAJO STAR had Ardamir well in arrears when collared in the closing stages over two miles here two starts ago and she again filled the runner-up spot over that staying trip at Kempton. Back down in distance here, she can get the better of Rydan, who bounced back to form with a solid third over a furlong further at Salisbury last time. Archimento is in decent form, but tends to save his best for Brighton and has a bit to prove over this trip.

Verdict

ORIN SWIFT wasn't disgraced in a stronger race than this at Newbury last time and looks interesting making his AW debut having been dropped 2 lb. Archimento and Navajo Star both arrive in form and are feared.

Cheekpieces on for 1st time, very good third of 14 in handicap (20/1) at Southwell (12.1f) 26 days ago. However, looks up against a couple of well treated rivals here.

Verdict

SWORDBILL, without a win in five turf starts, has been a revelation since switching to the all-weather. He struck over C&D two starts ago and positively bolted up at Kempton last time. This is his third run in eight days, but the decision to bring him out under a 6lb penalty for his four-length romp could prove a shrewd one. Brighton winner Sing A Rainbow has claims despite a 6lb hike, while the consistent Mythological also merits respect.

Verdict

SWORDBILL is improving in leaps and bounds all of a sudden and looks capable of landing the hat-trick. Sing A Rainbow is another going the right way and is a big danger. Crystal Spirit may also do better now handicapping after a break.
